Rummenigge opens up on German possibly making move to Chelsea and hands fans update
Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has offered an update on the future of Chelsea target Niklas Sule.
Former PSG boss Thomas Tuchel arrived far too late in the January window to be able to splash a bit of cash to try and add to a squad that is firmly regarded as one of the finest in the Premier League
However, the summer window could be a very different story, as he will know that he will need to add a couple of players to the squad that will help his side reach that next level, with Bayern star Sule on the shopping list
Reports in Germany have claimed that the 25-year-old has been added to Chelsea transfer wishlist along with fellow Bundesliga defenders David Alaba and Dayot Upamecano.
Sule, who is under contract at the Allianz Arena until 2022, has made 20 appearances in all competitions for Bayern this season, but has only started two of the club’s last six Bundesliga fixtures, and he is reportedly not happy with his current situation at the club
But Rummenigge is still hopeful that he will extend his stay with the German champions: “We want the good German national team players at FC Bayern. Niklas still has one year of the contract,” the Bayern chief told ZDF.
“We will hold talks and see where they’ll lead. We will look at the whole thing seriously & calmly by the summer.
“Corona (Covid-19 pandemic) has also caused financial damage to FC Bayern.
“If we find a solution, we are happy to extend the contract, but that will only be possible under certain conditions.”
