Gunners announcement IMMINENT as summer bargain arrives to complete his Arsenal medical

Dijon goalkeeper Runar Alex Runarsson is having a medical ahead of a move to Arsenal, after the French side accepted a £10 million offer for the stopper.

The Gunners are looking for a replacement for Aston Villa-bound Emiliano Martinez, with the Argentine moving to the Midlands in a £20million move as he seeks to get regular game time this coming season.

Martinez was brilliant towards the back-end of last season and helped Arsenal pick up that famous FA Cup victory, but with Bern Leno considered the number one at the club, Arsenal have decided to let him leave the club and join Villa.

And now Arsenal are on the verge of announcing that Runarsson is heading to the club after he arrived to complete his medical, reports on the Sky Sports website have revealed.

The 25-year-old was an unused substitute in England’s 1-0 win over Iceland in the UEFA Nations League earlier this month,a and will cost the club around £10 million to acquire this summer.

Look, Martinez is a quality stopper that did everything right last season to earn his chance to be number one this season, so Arsenal letting him leave this summer is a massive shock to the system for many Arsenal fans.

But those same fans will not blame him for wanting to leave and being a regular starter in the Premier League, and £20 million is a good amount of money to get back.

Runarsson is the perfect stopper to come in and play back-up to Leno, so landing him for a small fee is a decent move from the club, it is just a shame that Martinez has to be the player that leaves the club.
