Mikel Arteta opens up and hands Arsenal fans update on talks over trio of deals
Mikel Arteta confirmed talks are ongoing with young Arsenal starlets Bukayo Saka and Folarin Balogun, but he would not offer a fresh update over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang signing a new deal.
There has been alot of transfer speculation in the media over the past few weeks about all the players that could be arriving at the club in the summer, as Arteta seeks to get the side back to the top, but there has also been talks about possible exits.
Saka, 18, has established himself as a first-team regular under Arteta, and is one of the most exciting players in the Premier League, but has failed to agree a new contract at the club so far, while Balogun is tipped to breakthrough after being a prolific goalscorer at youth level.
And with the transfer window fast approaching and some big clubs reportedly interested in offering the duo contracts, Mikel Arteta has had to step up and give fans an update on the current contract talks with the pair, and has admitted that he is not worried.
‘I’m not worried because I know the club is trying to keep them.’ Arteta said of Saka and Balogun’s situations.
‘They know how much I like working with them and hopefully we can find agreements with them.’
Aubameyang has been locked in contract talks for months with Gunners chiefs but there are fears he will move on amid links to Barcelona, Manchester United and Real Madrid, who all know that they can get the striker for a bargain this summer, But Arteta refused to be drawn on his future.
‘I don’t have any updates, sorry,’ added the Arsenal manager.
Look, there is too much speculation and negativity surrounding the club right now, and getting these three contracts sorted out sooner rather than later would be a massive boost for the Gunners fans.
They dont want to see two exciting players leave and then their main source of goals, so the club need to get these wrapped up so they then can focus on signing players, not losing them.
