It has been claimed that Liverpool are still working very hard to keep Mohamed Salah at the club, and have already held positive talks about a new contract with the Egyptian star.
Salah has 12 goals and 10 assists in 18 games in all competitions this season and was the hero again last time out as the Premier League leaders came from behind to beat Southampton to extend their lead at the top of the table to eight points.
But there is still alot of speculation regarding the future of the attacker as clubs will be able to agree terms with the Egyptian for an end-of-season move in January, something that LIVERPOOL fans do not want to see happen.
But As per Caught Offside, the Anfield club remain in discussion with Salah’s agent to prolong his stay at the club beyond this season, and reputed transfer journalist, David Ornstein, claims that Liverpool are keen on keeping hold of the Egyptian and positive talks have already been held between the two parties over the renewal.
However – Salah only recently admitted that he is closer to leaving Liverpool than staying,
He told reporters: “We are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club. I’m probably more out than in.
‘You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end it is not in my hands. As I said before, it is December and I haven’t received anything yet about my future.
‘I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end it is not in my hands or the fans’ hands. Let’s wait and see.”
“Of course, [I’m disappointed] yeah. I’m not going to retire soon so I’m just playing, focusing on the season and I’m trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. I’m disappointed but we will see.
“I’m very professional. Everybody can see my work ethic. I’m just trying to enjoy my football and I will play at the top level as long as possible.
‘I’m just doing my best because this is who I am and I try to give it all for myself and for the club. We will see what happens next.”
