German willing to make Arsenal move, Barca target given green light to make Jan move, Boss announces delight after Arsenal deal and defender takes swipe at Arsenal after deal

Brandt willing to make Arsenal, move, Alena gets green light to leave Barca, Fofana takes swipe at Arsenal and Nice boss delighted with Saliba deal in Arsenal roundup…

Wesley Fofana has taken a swipe at Arsenal by claiming that William Saliba is “finally free”.

Regarded very highly over in France, Arsenal made the decision last summer to sign the young man for £20 million in hope that he would be ready this season to come to the side and make a big impact on the first team.

He was heavily tipped to become a real star at the Emirates over the next few seasons, and with the Arsenal also bringing in the impressive Gabriel on a deal worth £27 million, they were expected to form a very exciting partnership at the back.

However, he has struggled for game time since his move to the Emirates, despite the fact that Arsenal refused to let him leave on-loan for another season, and that led to constant speculation that he will leave the club.

Now that the transfer window has opened up, Saliba will join the French club through the end of the season as the 19-year-old defender returns to France in search of first-team football.

He is now set to spend the rest of the season at Nice and Fofana was happy for him, as He took to his Instagram account to celebrate the freedom of his former teammate who will now be able to play first-team football.

He posted an image of Arsenal and captioned it: “He is finally free”, complete with heart-eyes and party emojis.

Arsenal are still interested in trying to complete January deal to sign midfielder Julian Brandt, who is reportedly willing to make the move to the Emirates

The transfer window is now open, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has the opportunity to make a few moves and improve this Arsenal squad enough to make a big push for that top four spot at the end of the season.

And one area of the pitch that he is reportedly looking to improve on is midfield, as the Spaniard has been lacking a bit of creative spark in the middle of the pitch over the last few months, and he needs to get that solved.

Brandt has been touted as an option but, if he is a target, The 24-year-old would likely command a sizeable transfer fee. Brandt has not missed a match for Dortmund so far this season and has a contract until 2024.

According to Football London, Arsenal are considering a permanent move for Brandt, and The report states that the German star would be ‘willing’ to move to the Emirates.

Bild’s Christian Falk has recently opened up and confirmed that Arsenal are indeed interested in trying to sign the gifted midfielder, he said: “We also know he has connections [at Arsenal], youth director Per Mertesacker has the same agents as him, and he is a bit tempted to come to London.

“I could very well imagine it coming true.

“Whether a transfer will take place is still a bit open, the winter (January) is perhaps a bit too short notice so it could be a summer thing.”

Arsenal defender William Saliba has been backed to succeed at Nice while on loan in Ligue 1.

Nice boss Adrian Ursea is clearly an admirer of the former Saint Etienne centre-back and the Gunners have been given assurances Saliba will get plenty of game time to aid his development.

Ursea told OGC Nice TV: “He can bring us a lot of things, on the defensive side and in terms of our playing style and initiating moves.

“He can also be very precious to us in set pieces, an area where we have suffered a lot, even though that has been a little less the case in recent matches, which is perhaps due to our changes in terms of the organisation.

“His arrival will create movement in our defence. We lost Dante, we are still waiting for the leaders to show themselves.

“William is a player with a lot of personality, a personality that didn’t waste any time in revealing himself.

“With what he showed before leaving for England, honestly, talk about his age, I don’t even take that into account. Either a player is good or not, that is what interests me. It is not easy to succeed in Saint Etienne’s defence, no matter your age.”

Barcelona have given midfielder Carles Alena permission to leave the club this month, with Arsenal a club that have been linked in the past.

The 23-year-old La Masia product has struggled to establish himself under Ronald Koeman this season, with only one of his five appearances across La Liga and the Champions League coming in the starting XI.

That has led to some speculation that Arsenal, who are always linked with the rising talents of Barcelona, may decide to make a move to try and bring the young man to London in the transfer window.

It is no secret that Mikel Arteta is eager to add a bit more quality to his midfield, and although ALena has not made much of an impact under the guidance of Koeman, there are still big hopes that he will become a top player in the coming seasons.

And amid the speculation that Arsenal, and a number of Spanish clubs are keen, Koeman has opened up and confirmed that he has given permission to Alena to seek a new club this transfer window.

“Alena has permission from the club to seek his exit,” Koeman was quoted

“When everything is done, I will be able to give an opinion, but there are players who can decide to stay or not. He has decided to seek his exit.”
