Chelsea trying to sign impressive 18-goal star and solve striker problem!
According to journalist Simon Phillips, there are fresh whispers from his sources of a Chelsea approach for FC Porto striker Samu Aghehowa, as the Blues look to sign a striker that can score goals on a regular basis.
Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Marc Guiu are the current striker options in CHELSEA’s squad, but they have all been unable to put a run together that would suggest that they will lead that Blues attack in an era of winning trophies.
And that has led to many reports in the media which have claimed that Chelsea are now keen to add a new striker to that attack this transfer window, and Aghehowa is a player that Chelsea have been keeping an eye on for the past few seasons.
CHELSEA nearly signed the striker the same summer he joined giants, and now Phillips reports, via his Substack, that Chelsea could try to sign Aghehowa once again, despite his seismic £87 million release clause.
What has been said about Aghehowa and Chelsea?
“We are hearing about a new move to try and sign the 21-year-old striker,” the reporter said. Samu has 18 goals in 24 games for Porto this season, and last season he ended the campaign with 27 goals in 45 games.
“He has caught Chelsea’s eyes once again, and the rare thing has happened here in that I have been told his name by not just one source, but two of my top sources in just this last week. So that is why I know this is some very serious interest and I’d imagine that contact has been made with his people.
“It’s more than one to watch now as Chelsea know they are lacking in the 9 position yet again.”

Another transfer window, another striker being linked with Chelsea as they simply cannot help buying players that are now quite ready to lead that attack, Aghehowa is great in Porto, but he could struggle in the Premier League.
If CHELSEA are to buy a striker this transfer window, they need one that is proven for more than one season, one that has played at the top level and one that can be a leader, that is what they need.
