Old Trafford flop Sanchez opens up and sends apology to Manchester United fans
Alexis Sanchez has sent Manchester United fans an apology for his poor performances at Old Trafford.
Since his move from Arsenal just over 18 months ago, Sanchez has looked nothing like the player that caused havoc to opposing defences during his stay at the Emirates, and there has even been some talk that he could be sold at the end of the season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to raise some funds and make some space in his squad for incoming arrivals, and getting the £350,000-a-week off the wage bill, will go along way to balancing the books at Old Trafford.
Sanchez posted on Instagram after United were beaten 2-0 at home on the final day to apologise to supporters and explain the reasons for his below-par campaign.
“It was a very tough season…the fans are the ones who deserve an apology as they always support you no matter what happens.
“Personally, I didn’t perform as much as I was expecting because of unpredictable injuries.
“Press and people were speculating of things that were not even true. I was always a professional in all aspects.
“I apologise to the fans for not be able to achieve our goals. Nevertheless we are Manchester United! Players and Staff are questioning if we were doing the right thing and if we were giving our best for this football shirt.
“I’m certain that Manchester United one day will return to be the club, as it was in the old days with Mr. Alex Ferguson.”
Sanchez is no longer the player he was once and letting him leave at the end of the season would be a good decision by United, especially as he has failed on so many occasions to put things right, despite all the chances he has been given.
So if the right offer arrives during the summer window, then United should take it and use the funds to try and buy a player that is more prepared to give everything to the United cause.
Surely Sanchez will be one of a number of players that will be given the boot during the summer window?
