Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does have come top players in his squad that will help the club challenge for a top four spot next season, but it is widely felt that he needs to spend some money in order to get back challenging for titles.
However, Executive vice chairman Ed Woodward explained it would not be ‘business as usual’ this summer due to the impact of Covid-19 and while the club still expects to be active Solskjaer said he does not know what a post pandemic budget will look like.
“I think the pandemic has hit everyone really hard. I still think we need to wait and see how things are panning out to know the real effects of the pandemic, to know what kind of financial state we are in. You see some teams invest, some teams don’t. We’ll have to take a big look at things ourselves to see how hard we’ve been hit,” Solskjaer said on Sky Sports
“I know the club has announced a few numbers before. It’s not for me to say here now we are going to have X amount because I don’t really know.
“I don’t really know how hard we have been hit. We are a financially strong club, but we are also probably being hit more than anybody else. Let’s see how quickly we can get our fans back into the stadium and of course the league position is going to be important for us this season.
“If we can get a trophy, the FA Cup or the Europa League. The Europa League will also qualify us for the Champions League, there’s still a lot of uncertainty and these three or four months, every businessman in the world, every footballer in the world, I think everyone is still unsure what the effect will be.”
Erling Haaland has revealed he believes pal and Manchester United target Jadon Sancho “is the best player” around – and was when they faced off aged 16.
Sancho, 20, is being chased by a host of European giants this summer including United after another stunning season for the Bundesliga giants in which he has netted over 17-goals and created a ton of assists.
It is believed that Manchester United are willing to pay big money in the transfer window and make the Englishman another statement signing, although they probably will not pay that massive £100 million that Borussia Dortmund would like.
Now, amid all the speculation, Haaland was full of praise for his Borussia Dortmund team-mate – saying he’s the best in the world, and admitted tyhe club will be desperate to keep his fellow attacker at the Westfalenstadion.
Haaland told BT Sport: “I’m not sure how many but goals and assists [Sancho has this season, but]) that speaks for itself.
“You can also see the goals and the way in which he dribbles past players it’s looking so easy.
“It’s also funny because I played against him when I was 16-years-old, and he was the exact same player dribbling past players.
“When I played against him then he was the best player I played against because he was so good.
“Now that I get to play with him it’s fantastic and he’s also assisted me and we play good together, he’s as young as me and he’s amazing.
“He has a very bright future.”
Manchester United have reportedly registered an interest in signing Arsenal misfit Matteo Guendouzi.
Ex-Arsenal boss Unai Emery has done some strange business during his short stay in London with many of his signings not performing at the level that many had hoped, but the bargain Guendouzi has been a sensation since his bargain priced move to London just a few seasons ago.
The 21 year-old has impressed in his short time with the club, but has found himself struggling for first-team football under Mikel Arteta since his arrival in December, and it wasnt helped by the bust up between player and manager at the mid-season training camp in February,

Sancho is one of the best talents in the game right now and the type of player that Jurgen Klopp loves, especially as he will not need to improve his squad ahead of next season.
Manchester United are also very keen on the services of Sancho, who could be their statement signing in the summer window, if they are really ready to pay that massive £100 million price tag on the head of Sancho.
And now they have been handed a massive boost by Klopp, after the German boss opened up and admitted that he will not be making a move for Sancho in the summer window, but dod admit the England star would “look good” in a Liverpool shirt.
Klopp was asked directly about Sancho at a live event hosted by German publication BILD and replied: “A red jersey would look very good on Jadon. But I don’t think such a transfer will take place this summer.
