Drogba message, James update, Hudson-Odoi warning, £80m winger transfer message, Hazard to stay in Chelsea Wednesday news and gossip
Here is the daily roundup of Chelsea news, gossip and transfer talk from icfootballnews.
Chelsea hero Didier Drogba has told Eden Hazard to ignore a move to Real Madrid as he could fulfil his dreams at Stamford Bridge.
Hazard has been in superb form for Chelsea this season and has played some of his best football under Maurizio Sarri, but there is massive suggestions in the media which have claimed that the Belgian is set for a big money move to Madrid in the summer.
Hazard almost left for the Bernabeu last summer after the world cup had finished, but was convinced by Sarri to stay one more season to try and help the club win back the Premier League and get back into the Champions League.
However, speculation over a move to Madrid have increased over the past day or so after Madrid made the shock appointment of Zidane ten months after he walked out the club, claiming that it was time that the Spaniards headed in a different direction as he could not take them any further.
And the Frenchman has made Hazard one of his top summer targets, But former Chelsea hero Drogba believes Hazard should stay, and can realise his dreams at Stamford Bridge.
He was quoted on the Daily Express website, he said: “Why should he leave? I think he can have this here in Chelsea.
“I had many opportunities to leave and I decided to stay to make my own story and win the Champions League here. I think he’s got a chance to make his own story.
“This club is still young and we need people like him to improve the quality in terms of Champions League trophies in the room, he can help us.
“I will be very happy if he stays here, but if he goes to Madrid, good luck to him.”
Blues legend Frank Lampard has told Callum Hudson-Odoi he will need to make a decision in the summer as to whether Chelsea are the right club for him.
Hudson-Odoi has been tipped for superstardom in the game this season after a number of impresses performances for Maurizio Sarri’s team, despite the fact he has only appeared in four Premier League games under the Italian this season.
His lack of game time and growing interest from German Champions Bayern Munich has led to a lot of speculation that he is interested in packing his bags and leaving the club at the end of the season, as he has so far rejected the £85,000-a-week contract offer that Chelsea have reportedly placed on the table.
Lampard wants Hudson-Odoi to remain at Stamford Bridge and work hard to get more of a chance under manager Sarri, be he admits he will have to make a decision in the summer over what he thinks is best for his career.
“Firstly, I’d love him to stay at Chelsea,” Lampard told talkSPORT.
“He needs to be doing everything to get in that team. Is he working hard and is he developing every day in training and trying to improve?
“I don’t know him that well but I’m sure that’s the standard at Chelsea he’s going by himself. Every minute he gets on the pitch he needs to be doing everything he can.
“I understand Chelsea fans want to see more of him and he has to do everything he can to give himself the chance of minutes.
“I think at the end of the season he will look back and think ‘what can I do with my career?’. It’s a mad one because a young English player at Chelsea at that age then you really want him to sign that long-term contract.”
Bayern Munich have now told chasing Chelsea that they intend to keep on-loan Real Madrid star James Rodriguez.
Rodriguez is currently coming towards the end of his two-year loan spell with Bayern and there were some suggestions that they had no intention of offering him a permanent move to the Bundesliga, as he had not impressed as many had hoped.
That had led to speculation that Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri was looking to step in and offer the Colombian a move to the premier League, as he needs to find players that will help fill the void if Eden Hazard leaves for the club at the end of the season.
But despite rumours that Bayern are not willing to hand him a permanent deal, the Germans now intend to sign him on a permanent deal from Real Madrid.
“The option that we have, we have to exercise by June 15th,” Rummenigge told Abendzeitung.
“So we still have plenty of time. But I have to make it quite clear that everyone here is happy with him. I firmly believe that James will also play for FC Bayern next season.”
Chelsea transfer target Jadon Sancho will remain at Borussia Dortmund next season despite speculation linking him to a number of Europe’s top sides,
Sancho is now considered to be one of the most exciting talents in world football after a stunning season with Borussia Dortmund, in which the Englishman has netted nine goals, with the winger being involved in 22 goals for Dortmund this season.
Chelsea have been linked with a possible move for the winger as they seek a long-term solution to Eden Hazard, who is heavily tipped to pack his bags and leave for Real Madrid in a deal worth around £100 million as the Spanish giants plan a massive summer overhaul.
His impressive displays have also led to speculation that Sancho could leave Dortmund this summer, but Sporting Director Michael Zorc has dismissed those suggestions, insisting he will remain in Germany.
“Jadon will play for Borussia Dortmund next season and we are definitely planning with him,” Zorc told Sport Bild.
“I am far from putting a price tag on Jadon, but I maintain that his transfer would be hard to beat even for the biggest clubs in the world at the moment.”
Emerson Palmieri admitted Chelsea’s players are “afraid” of losing a player of the quality of Eden Hazard, but believes the Belgian will stay.
Hazard has been in superb form for Chelsea this season and is playing some of the best football of his career under Maurizio Sarri, but there is a lot of speculation that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season to join up with Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid.
He has made no secret of his desire to work with the French legend, who he has idolised since a kid, and it is no secret that the Spanish giants are prepared to go big and try to secure his services for a fee of around £100 million.
And after seeing Hazard net his 13th League goal of the season in the 1-1 draw with Wolves last weekend, Emerson insisted such a talent cannot be let go at the end of the season.
“He shows every day how important he is,” Emerson told Sky Sports.
“Obviously we have many players of quality in our team but he is on another level, and is one of the best in the world. I personally cannot see him leaving, but you never know in football. Like Chelsea fans, we are afraid that he might leave, I still believe that he will stay and we really want him to stay.”
Can Hazard keep hold of their star man?
If Chelsea lose Hazard it will be a massive blow to their chances of getting back into the habit of challenging for the Premier League title under Sarri, so if they can convince him to stay it would be better than going out and spending a ton of money on a new player.
However, he has big dreams and ambitions so keeping hold of him in the summer will be an almost impossible feat considering he is desperately keen to work with Zidane at Madrid.
