£100m Koulibaly green light, Sancho move, £35m Gomez battle, Brooks signs deal, Wan-Bassika claim in Liverpool, Man United Monday
Here is the daily roundup of Liverpool and Manchester United news, gossip and transfer talk from icfootballnews.
Reports have claimed Manchester United are keen to sign Chelsea transfer target Kalidou Koulibaly this coming summer transfer window.
With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer all set to be announced the permanent boss of the Red Devils, focus can now turn on to whom he will try and sign in the summer transfer window to help the United side get back into the habit of winning the Premier League, not just challenging for it.
And one name that has been mentioned on numerous occasions is that of Kouliably, who is a top transfer target of Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, with the Blues coach also desperate to improve the back-line and bring one of the most dominant performances in Seria A to England.
And according to reports on the TalkSport website, Kouliably could finally get the move to the Premier League in the summer as Solskjaer plans a massive summer spree which involves the likes of Ivan Rakitic and Crystal Palace wonderkid Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is reportedly ready to hand Solskjaer the kind of money it would take the land the trio in the summer, as he looks to help guide the side back to the glory days of legend Sir Alex Ferguson.
Reports have claimed Manchester United are willing to spend £100 million to try and secure a summer transfer deal for Liverpool transfer target Jadon Sancho.
Sancho is now considered one of the most exciting and gifted talents in world football after taking the Bundesliga by storm, and Borussia Dortmund were so confident he was the future of the club that they allowed star man Christian Pulisic to agree a £57 million move to Chelsea during the January transfer window.
His performances has not only led to him being involved in 22 goals in 24 games this season, but he has also earned an International call-up by England boss Gareth Southgate, who also believes that the winger can become one of the very best in world football.
But according to reports on the Daily Mirror website, United are looking to freshen up the side in the summer transfer window and add a bit more creativity and width to the side, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hoping to build a side that is capable of winning the Premier League, with Sancho on the shopping list.
The reports suggest that United are willing to back Solskjaer in the transfer market and are ready to fend off Liverpool and PSG to secure a deal for Sancho, with a £100 million seemingly the price set by the German giants.
Liverpool and Chelsea will go head-to-head for Celta Vigo starlet Maxi Gomez in the summer, according to reports.
The pair will be looking to hit the transfer window hard during the summer window as Chelsea will be looking to buy where they can ahead of their impending transfer ban, while Liverpool will be keen to add to a squad that is close to winning their first Premier League title in 29-years.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp knows that he will need to keep on improving his squad over the next few transfer windows as his strength in depth is not as strong as the likes of Manchester City, and an injury or two to one of his attackers will cause them real problems.
Blues boss Maurizio Sarri has a lot of his first-team players linked with big money moves away and knows he must delve into the massive transfer kitty to add to his attack, which has failed to score the kind of goals this season which keeps them in the Premier League title chase.
And according to reports on the Sun website, the pair will compete for the £35m-rated forward who looks set to net double figures in his first two La Liga seasons – he got 17 last season for Celta Vigo and has nine in 21 for them this time around.
Arsenal and Manchester United target David Brooks has put pen to paper on a new long-term deal at Bournemouth.
Brooks is now tipped to become one of the best midfielders in the Premier League after making a big impression for Bournemouth just a year after signing from Sheffield United, and his performances have caught the attentions of both United and Arsenal.
Arsenal will be losing Aaron Ramsey to Juventus at the end of the season after he failed to agree a new contract at the club, while United are seeking a more long-term solution to the aging Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic, who are coming towards the back-end of their top level playing days.
However, it seems both Arsenal and United will have to wait to get their hands on the talented midfielder after the Welshman agreed a new long-term contract with the club, and Brooks has admitted his delight on penning a new contract.
The player himself said on the Sky Sports website: “When talks started about a new deal it was something I wanted and it didn’t take long to sort out.
“When I arrived at the club, not many people would have anticipated the start I have made – myself included. I’m happy with the amount of games I’ve played and the performances I’ve put in for the team. I’ve loved every minute of my time here so far and I’m really happy to extend my contract.”
Former Liverpool star Danny Murphy has urged Arsenal and Manchester United to make a move for £40 million rated Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Wan-Bissaka has shot to prominence this season after breaking into Crystal Palace’s team and his performances for the Eagles have caught the attentions of both Arsenal and United, who are seeking to reinforce their back-line during the summer window.
The Gunners may have Hector Bllerin as the clubs main right-back, but the Spanish star is constantly linked with a move to Barcelona and is not the player that dominated a few seasons ago, while United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer knows that Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia are coming towards the back-end of their careers and fresh talent is needed.
And Murphy has backed the 21-year-old to make a big transfer in the near future.
‘I do think this lad’s that special,’ Murphy said on TalkSport.
‘I think right now we are blessed in that area. ‘This Wan-Bissaka, unfortunately for Palace fans, maybe they’ll keep him another year, it won’t do him any harm at all playing more games and getting more experience.
‘There’s a gaping hole at Man Utd for a right-back. Ashley Young’s done brilliantly, but he’s 34. Has he overtaken Trippier or can he? He doesn’t play every week.
‘He (Pochettino) switches between him and Aurier, he is not sure? Arsenal, their back four needs some improvement.’
