United told to wait for Sancho, Telles close to signing, Lingard told to consider move, Upamecano on possible move in Manchester United roundup…

Porto left-back Alex Telles has signalled his determination to move to Manchester United this transfer window

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen on signing a left-back and missed out on now Tottenham ace Sergio Reguilon earlier in the summer, as the Madrid star signed with the Spurs in a £28 million deal

His attentions have turned to Telles, who has been impressive over the past 12 months and who scored twice and provided an assist as Porto beat Braga 3-1 over the weekend, a performance that United were keeping a close eye on.

United are desperate to strengthen having been beaten 3-1 at Old Trafford by Crystal Palace in their opening Premier League game of the season, and according to reports on the Daily Telegraph, United are reportedly still trying to drive down the €40m (£36.6m) release clause in his contract, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks for competition for Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams.

Telles, 27, has one cap for Brazil, and has been at Porto since 2016, signing from Galatasaray but is now reportedly ready to make that step up and has reportedly signalled his intent to sign with United.

Amid all the speculation, Telles is keeping tight-lipped about a possible deal, Speaking to Sport TV, he is quoted as saying: “I’m a guy who focuses a lot on work, people believe what they want, say what they want in the newspapers, but the most important thing is to be focused on my work.

“You know that and so do my teammates, whatever happens, I’m focused on the club, I’m here, I’m playing.”

Dayot Upamecano has poured cold water on rumours that he could be set for a move to Manchester United this summer window.

The talented Frenchman made his debut for Les Bleus over the weekend, after a stunning season with RB which led to him becoming one of the most sought after defenders in the game.

United are heavily linked with a move to try and sign the powerhouse, as head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bring in a central defender with pace to make up for Harry Maguire’s lack of mobility and has reportedly identified Upamecano as his priority target in this position.

However, in a TV interview withTelefoot’s Culture Foot programme this week, Upamecano appeared to commit his short-term future to Leipzig despite strong interest from Europe’s elite.

“For the moment I am with Leipzig but it is true that I was able to discuss with certain clubs,’ he said.

“As I said, for now I am focused on Leipzig and I will continue to play for Leipzig. And then we’ll see.

“You never know what can happen in a football season.”

Darren Fletcher has told Manchester United to hold out for Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.

Sancho is one of the very best wingers in the game right now and a player that is tipped to go on and become one of the best players in the game, and it is no secret that United are desperate to sign him this summer.

However, there has been constant speculation that United do not want to pay the asking price that Dortmund have set this summer, and will now have to switch their attentions to someone else, with a few players liked with the club.

But amid all the speculation, Fletcher has told Manchester United to hold out for a deal to sign Sancho, he was quoted on the TalkSport website: “If you add Jadon Sancho to that Man United team, do they instantly go and challenge for the title? No. I think that is what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is thinking as well: people are outraged we haven’t added Jadon Sancho, that means we can’t challenge for the title.

“I still think you’ve got to bridge a gap between Liverpool and Man City first before you overtake them. I think Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the club are willing to be patient, if it means not signing Sancho this summer, adding in other areas, having another season with this team and improving and then adding Jadon Sancho next summer – what’s wrong with that?

“If that’s your main target, why not wait for him instead of signing a stop-gap and eventually losing out on Sancho.”

Manchester United star Jesse Lingard should consider a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur, claims Andy Cole.

It is no secret that Lingard has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and there has been some speculation in the media that Tottenham are interested in getting a deal done.

Jose Mourinho is reportedly a massive fan of Lingard and is reportedly ready to pay some serious money in order to add a bit more depth to his squad, who face alot of games this season because of their participation in the Europa League.

The England international reminded Solskjaer of his undoubted qualities on Tuesday night with a strong showing against Luton in the Carabao Cup, and with the Tottenham boss reportedly keen on a reunion in north London, Cole suggested a change in scenery could be beneficial for the attacking midfielder.

“I think everyone has a role to play, but it’s to what extent you want to play that role,” Cole told talkSPORT.com.

“I’m sure he wants to be a starter and I think Jesse would be the first one to admit it’s going to be difficult to start week, week out.

“When you’re at that age, you have to turn around to yourself and ask ‘Do you want to be coming off the bench or do you want to be starting week in, week out?’

“So I think if Jesse wants to start or Manchester United are consider selling him, or whatever the situation is, the two parties will no doubt make a decision on it.”
