Sarri officially announces £55 million man Willian will be at Chelsea this January

Maurizio Sarri has admitted that Willian will not be leaving Chelsea this January transfer window, amid Barcelona links.

Willian has become an integral part of Sarri’s side this season after rejecting a move to Barcelona in the summer, as he was persuaded by the Italian to stay put and try to help the club get back into the Champions League places.

However, after a decent start to the new season, there has been speculation in the media over the past few days which have claimed Barcelona have made a £55 million offer to take Willian away from Stamford Bridge, and would even let Brazilian Malcom leave as part of the deal.

But Sarri has reacted very quickly and announced that it would be ‘impossible’ for him to let Willian leave the club this month, telling Sky Sports news: “I didn’t receive anything yesterday. I have no idea.

“You have to contact the club and ask about the market, because if you ask me about the market, you put me in trouble because I don’t know how to answer. As you know, Willian for us is very important.

“I think he can do better, he can do better because of his potential but he is really very important to us, so I think it is impossible to lose him in January.

Chelsea cannot allow Willian leave the club this month.

Willian is a top-class midfielder that is one of the best players at the club, and keeping hold of him this month will help Chelsea achieve there goals of getting back into a top four spot and try to push on to win some silverware.

But if Willian wants to leave for Barcelona, there is not much the Blues can do if the right offer arrives.
