Sarri opens up and drops massive hint over £45 million Chelsea deal for Barella
Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has dropped a big hint about the club possibly signing Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella in the January window.
Chelsea have been linked with a move for the impressive Seria A star over the past few weeks after it emerged that experienced midfielder Cesc Fabregas would be packing his bags and heading over to Monaco t link-up with former Arsenal team-mate Thierry Henry.
It has even been suggested that Chelsea have submitted a £45 million offer to try and prise Barella away from Cagliari, a fee which the Italian club are seriously considering as they are prepared to cash in if the right offer arrives from Chelsea, or anybody else for that matter.
And Sarri has dropped a massive hint he is looking to conclude a deal for Barella, after admitting that the side will be a midfielder short once Fabregas officially leaves the club.
He said on the Sky Sports website: “I don’t want to speak about players of other teams of course. If Cesc goes of course we will need a replacement. Now with the midfielders we are in trouble I think because I don’t know the situation of Loftus, if it is serious or not.
“Without Cesc we are only 5 so we are in trouble. We need a replacement of course.”
Could Barella be a good replacement for Fabregas?
Losing Fabregas will be a hude blow as the Spaniard is simply a world class midfielder, so many fans will be hoping that Barella, or any other midfielder linked with the club, can come in and do the job the former Gunner did.
Barella has been very impressive for Caglairi, but only time will tell if he is ready to make that next step and play for such a big club like Chelsea, as the Italian League is nothing compared to the physical nature of the Premier League
