Gonzalo proud of Chelsea move Eriksen wants move, £80 million Richarlison, Higuain Premier League warning, in Chelsea news, gossip
Here is a morning roundup of the latest Chelsea news, gossip and transfer talk from icfootballnews.
Chelsea striker Gonzalo Higuaín has warned the Premier League, Maurizio Sarri ‘will get the best out of me’
Higuaín has been considered to be one of the best strikers in Europe for the past few years, but struggled at AC Milan during his brief loan spell at the San Siro and ultimately made the move to Chelsea last month, as Sarri needed a world class striker in his attack.
The Argentine enjoyed the highest goalscoring return of his career during Sarri’s tenure at Napoli, finding the back of the net on 38 occasions in 2015/16, and the Blues boss is hoping to get that kind of form out of the Juventus striker.
And Higuain is confident Sarri could help him rekindle that form in the Premier League, telling the Sky Sports website: “He is the coach that has got the best out of me,” the 31-year-old said. “I know him well, he knows me well.
“I’m hopeful I will get back to that level we had before, this is the idea. He is someone who helps me, knows my game and how to get the best out of me.
“I am very happy to be here. It’s a wonderful club with a wonderful stadium and it is really a fantastic experience. I hope with time that this team will be able to achieve all the goals they can.”
Meanwhile, Everton will demand £80million for Chelsea transfer target Richarlison.
Richarlison was a transfer target for Chelsea during the summer transfer window, but the Blues failed to make an official move after convincing Hazard to reject a big money move to Real Madrid and stay at Stamford Bridge for one more season.
However, Chelsea are monitoring several potential playmakers who can fill the boots of Hazard and are reportedly keen on a transfer deal for Richarlison when the Belgian does leave.
But the Daily Star website has claimed that Everton will look to double their £40 million fee paid for Richarlison and will demand in excess of £80 million for the Brazilian, who has fallen out of favour with boss Marco Silva.
Gonzalo Higuaín has admitted ‘he is proud’ to play for a big club like Chelsea.
Higuaín finally got his move to Stamford Bridge towards the back end of the January transfer window after Blues boss Maurizio Sarri convinced the board to complete a loan deal for the Argentine, with the option of making the deal permanent in the summer.
Many have doubted whether or not Higuaín will be a success in the Premier League at this stage of his career after struggling for goals at AC Milan, with just eight goals in his 22 appearances for the Italian giants.
But Higuaín has admitted that he has nothing to prove after his move to the Premier League and is proud to sign for a big club like the Blues, telling the Sky Sports website: “I am someone who always does my best and tries to improve.
“After Napoli I went to Juventus and won two leagues, the cup and got to the final of the Champions League.
“It’s true there have been a few months that have been harder at Milan but I don’t feel my level was any lower than it was there. After a record season with Napoli, though, it’s hard to live up to that.
“But I am someone who is growing different aspects of my game all the time and, after these six months where the situation was more complicated, I hope to recapture my true form with Maurizio Sarri and Chelsea.
“After six years in Italy I felt I had achieved a lot there, it was very demanding, of course, but when the opportunity came to come to England it was too big to miss out on.
“To come and join Maurizio at such a great team like Chelsea, I didn’t hesitate for one second. I am proud to be here and hope to perform to the best of my ability.”
Meanwhile, Sky Sports pundit Andy Townsend has claimed Chelsea target Christian Eriksen wants to leave Tottenham.
Eriksen has become a vital part of Mauricio Pochettino’s side over the past few seasons and is one of the creative reasons why they score so many goals throughout the course of the season, but there has been speculation that he could leave the club.
It is believed that the Danish star has refused three contract offers from Spurs over the past few months, with the latest reportedly close to the £110,000-a-week mark, with the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea and Barcelona all keeping a close eye.
And Townsend has claimed that Eriksen has decided he wants to leave the club at the end of the season.
“I think [Christian] Eriksen has already decided he’s going to go, once a player gets to this point I don’t think you are playing Spurs poker anymore,” he said on Sky Sports’ The Debate.
“I think Eriksen has enjoyed his time at Spurs, and yes there’s a new dawn around the corner, but you’re always going to be one or two that come out of there. I think he will be the first to go.
“I like James Maddison. I think he’s come in and adapted very well for life in the Premier League and I think he’s shown he can finish.
“He’s very good with his set plays, he’s clever. Is he Christian Eriksen’s class or quality yet? No, he’s a mile away from that.
