Blues fans stunned! Maurizio Sarri opens up on new Chelsea signing Higuain

Maurizio Sarri has admitted Gonzalo Higuain is not in the best of shape since his move to Stamford Bridge.

After months of speculation and weeks of talks, Sarri finally convinced Chelsea to complete a deal for Higuain as he needed to land a world class striker to his squad in a bid to get back into a top four spot, and Champions League football.

However, Higuain has struggled with his opeing two games of his new life and he was unable to find the net during his debut against Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup at the weekend, while in his first Premier League appearance, the 31-year-old was replaced after 65 minutes having failed to register a shot on target.

And Sarri has opened up on his new signing by admitting that the Argentine is suffering from a minor back injury and is not fully match fit.

‘He can improve a great deal,’ Sarri told Sky Sport Italia.

‘At this moment, he is not in good shape, probably because he has played very little recently between transfer market distractions and back pain.

‘He can grow a great deal over the next few weeks.’

Here is what wethink.

Higuai arrives at Stamford Bridge not in the best of shape and only managed eight goals during his time at AC Milan, so he will need time to adapt to the pace and quality of the Premier league game.

The Argentine was one of the best strikers in world football, but there was a reason that Juventus let him leave last summer, and there was a reason why Milan cut short his loan spell this January, and that is because he is no longer the striker he once was.

He is the short term solution to a long-term problem, but Chelsea fans may need to be worried as Higuain will struggle to score goals this season.
