“I want players who want to play for Chelsea” Maurizio Sarri has £100 million Hazard transfer message for fans
Maurizio Sarri says he is “not worried” about the possibility of Eden Hazard leaving Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
It is no secret that Hazard is keen on a move to Madrid at the end of the season and all indications suggest that Spaniards are ready to step up their chase and finally land the Belgian superstar for a fee close to the £100 million mark.
And after the arrival of Zinedine Zidane as boss of the Spaniards, many have come to the conclusion that Hazard is now desperate to complete a move to La Liga and work under the guidance of his idol, who has made no secret that he is a fan of the Chelsea man.
However, Sarri has admitted that he is not worried about the possibility of losing his star player at the end of the season, telling Sky Sports news: “You have to ask to Hazard (about Zidane) I think.
“I don’t know at the moment. I didn’t speak with Eden about Zidane.
“I am not worried because you know my opinion. I want only in my team players who want to play for Chelsea, so I can’t be worried.”
Here is what we think.
Sarri has already started planning for life without Hazard as he brought Christian Pulisic in the January window to help fill the void of Hazard, and with Callum Hudson-Odoi also still at the club, the Italian must believe he has enough quality to cover if the Belgian leaves.
If Hazard wants to go then Chelsea will have to sell as they will get nothing just twelve months later with Hazard out of contract with the club. So even though they would lose their most creative player, top clubs have shown over the past that losing one big player doesn’t mean the end of success.
In fact losing Hazard in the summer may actually make the Chelsea side stronger, as they will not be relying on just one player.
