Excited Pulisic, Cavani-Barella deals, Paredes talks, Sarri hint in Chelsea Monday news and gossip
Here is the daily roundup of the latest Chelsea news, gossip and transfer speculation from IcFootballnews.com
Borussia Dortmund star Christian Pulisic says he is excited by the challenge of playing for Chelsea in the Premier League.
After months of speculation and weeks of talks behind the scenes, Chelsea announced that they had agreed a massive £57 million move for the highly-rated American International after the Germans decided they were ready to cash in.
It is believed Pulisic dod not want to sign a new contract at Dortmund as he wanted to test himself in the Premier League, and rather than try and talk him into signing a big new contract, Dortmund decided they had enough cover to fill the void if he left.
And now Pulisic has told Chelsea fans that he is excited about playing in the Premier League next season, telling Sky Sports: “I always liked the way Chelsea played and still play football today, and I think that style suits me very well…I’ve always wanted to play in the Premier League and I’m looking forward to it.”
Reports have claimed Chelsea are working on a double £95 million deal to sign PSG star Edonson Cavani and Cagliari ace Nico Barella this month.
It is widely expected that Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri stumps up big money and improves a few areas of the pitch, with a defender, midfielder and striker all needed in the coming transfer windows.
That has led to speculation that Chelsea have submitted a £45 million move for Barella, who would be seen as an ideal replacement for Spanish star Cesc Fabregas, who played his last game over the weekend for the Blues.
Now the Daily Express website has claimed Cavani, who has scored a staggering 183 goals in 262 appearances for PSG in the last five years, has now become a top transfer target for Sarri, as he reportedly believes he is the ideal man to lead the line for Chelsea.
Chelsea have been linked with the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Karim Benzema and Mauro Icardi over the last few weeks, but the report goes on to say that Cavani has emerged as Sarri’s dream target, and the Italian would like to secure a deal for the hitman for around £50 million this month.
It is no secret that both Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud are struggling for goals, so the Italian knows he must add in certain areas of the pitch to get back into the chase for the Premier League title.
Reports have now claimed Chelsea are in talks to sign Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Leandro Paredes.
With Cesc Fabregas now all set to sign for French giants Monaco after playing his last game for the club, Maurizio Sarri is reportedly desperate to fill the void which will be left by the Spaniard when he finally departs, with talks that Cagliari star Nicolo Barella could be signed.
Recent reports had claimed that Chelsea had submtted a £45 million offer to sign the impressive Serie A star this month, after it was claimed the Italians were ready to do busienss for the right price.
However, reports on the Metro website says Paredes is seen as a better fit to rotate with Jorginho – the role Fabregas was fulfilling this season – and the Blues also feel his experience makes him less of a gamble.
But Zenit are in np hurry to sell and believe they can get more money out of Chelsea than the £40 million that he is currently valued at, and will play hard-ball between now and the end of the January window.
Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has dropped a big hint about the club possibly signing Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella in the January window.
Chelsea have been linked with a move for the impressive Seria A star over the past few weeks after it emerged that experienced midfielder Cesc Fabregas would be packing his bags and heading over to Monaco t link-up with former Arsenal team-mate Thierry Henry.
It has even been suggested that Chelsea have submitted a £45 million offer to try and prise Barella away from Cagliari, a fee which the Italian club are seriously considering as they are prepared to cash in if the right offer arrives from Chelsea, or anybody else for that matter.
And Sarri has dropped a massive hint he is looking to conclude a deal for Barella, after admitting that the side will be a midfielder short once Fabregas officially leaves the club.
He said on the Sky Sports website: “I don’t want to speak about players of other teams of course. If Cesc goes of course we will need a replacement. Now with the midfielders we are in trouble I think because I don’t know the situation of Loftus, if it is serious or not.
“Without Cesc we are only 5 so we are in trouble. We need a replacement of course.”
