Gunners legend Seaman had big warning for £22 million rated Arsenal star Leno

Gunners legend David Seaman has warned Bernd Leno he needs to be patient if he wants to be Arsenal’s number one.

The young German star was signed by Unai Emery in the summer transfer window as the perfect long-term replacement fir the aging Petr Cech, who had a very unimpressive season under Arsene Wenger last year.

But so far Leno has failed to make his Arsenal debut, as Emery has shocked many fans by sticking with Cech for the first four Premier League games of the season, despite the fact he has once again been unimpressive.

But Seaman has urged Leno to stay patient and wait for his opportunity to make his claim for the number one spot.

The ex goalkeeper said:‘Just because he cost a lot of money does not mean he goes straight into the team.

‘He has to be patient. Petr Cech has done nothing wrong in goal.

‘Ok, so he is adjusting to playing with the ball from the box. But he has been able to contribute to the team and has done nothing to cause him to be left out.

‘This could be a learning curve for him,’ he added.

‘You have to be patient in football… I know. ‘I had to be in the past when I was playing. Leno has to bide his time.’

Here is what we think.

Cech has done nothing to warrant four Premier league starts under Emery, but done nothing to be dropped, he has just been average, like he has been for the last few seasons.

Leno is a young hungry stopper that needs a chance and the longer he stays the on the bench, the more that £22 million will just be a waste of money.

Cech is well past his best, Leno needs that chance to shine.
