Red Bull Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko has made a decision about joining Chelsea after holding talks with the forward

Chelsea made the big decision earlier in the transfer window to allow Romelu Lukaku head back to Italian football and Inter Milan after failing to make the impact that many had hoped for last season

That means that Thomas Tuchel knows that he needs to add another striker to the side – and after missing out on Darwin Nunez – Robert Lewandowski – Erling Haaland and even Harry Kane – Chelsea are now interested in a deal for Sesko

He scored 11 goals in all competitions last season and has started this campaign with Salzburg with two goals in three games, also scoring the only goal in a friendly win against Liverpool last month

At 19 he already has a number of caps for his national team and is regarded as one of those young strikers that has the ability develop into one of the very best forwards in world football

Chelsea are one of the clubs that have held talks with the player in recent weeks – along with the likes of Newcastle United and Man United – but it seems that his decision has been made

Sky Sport Austria, though, are now reporting that Sesko has decided that he wishes to stay at Salzburg for the 2022-23 season despite the interest from Chelsea, United and Newcastle.

‘Benjamin Sesko wants to stay in Salzburg for another year so that he can make the leap like Erling Haaland,’ Sky Sport Austria reporter Marko Stankovic said.

‘That’s Sesko’s plan. Next year we will talk about a really good transfer.’
