£89M star backed to thrive at Chelsea – board ‘believe in the quality of the player’
Andriy Shevchenko has backed Mykhailo Mudryk to come good at CHELSEA under Mauricio Pochettino.
Mudryk was one of the big money signings that Chelsea made in the January window as they beat off the likes of Arsenal to wrap up a monster transfer move.
In the first-half of the season, Mudryk scored seven goals in 12 league appearances for Shakhtar Donetsk, but he largely struggled following his move to Stamford Bridge, failing to score in 17 games.
There has been alot of criticism about the lad and whether or not he is good enough to play for Chelsea – Shevchenko is not overly concerned for his compatriot, and believes he will prove his ‘quality’ at the club.
‘Mudryk is very young but I think he is quite confident,’ the Ukrainian legend told SPORTbible.
‘I’ve seen some of his interviews and he knows his quality. Chelsea signed him for eight years, it’s a long-term contract and they believe in the quality of the player.
‘In football if you have the opportunity you have to take it. I think he’s going to have plenty of opportunities but we’ll see how it goes.
‘For me he is quality, he is sharp, he’s strong, he’s fast and you just have to adapt better for Premier League football.
‘The best advice is to just believe in yourself. I think he has this quality. He knows he’s a good player. My best advice is just keep working hard and see what you can achieve.’
Although CHELSEA paid too much money for the lad – he is still a very talented winger that could develop into something special and under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino – he could thrive
