Will Luiz leave Villa?

Alan Smith has sent Arsenal a message about possibly signing Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa this summer window.

The midfielder has been one of Unai Emery’s unsung heroes this term, scoring seven goals and contributing seven assists in all competitions.

While striker Ollie Watkins has captured the headlines, Luiz has played a key role in Villa’s success in the Premier League this term, helping the side get Champions League football for next season

Luiz was heavily linked with a move to ARSENAL last year and according to many reports in the media over the past few months, he is still a player that Mikel Arteta would love to add to his squad.

But amid all the speculation and rumours – Alan Smith has opened up and claimed that he should only be signed by Arsenal if Thomas Partey decides to pack his bags and depart the club over the next few months.

Speaking to Gambling Zone, Alan Smith said: “I don’t think Arsenal want to change Rice’s game, he did so well playing on the left side of the centre and getting into the box in the second half of the season.

“I think Arsenal will be looking for someone to come in and play deep, the role that Thomas Partey was performing towards the end of the season. If Partey were to leave the football club, that creates an opening.

“I like Douglas Luiz. I think his games come on an awful lot under Unai Emery. He’s shown that he can take on those strict orders of Emery. He’s got to do as he says, and that bodes well for the player’s character and his willingness to be disciplined out on the pitch…”

ARSENAL are probably the only club that could tempt him into a move away from Villa right now – but we cant see him leaving for the Gunners this summer.
