Right buy for Chelsea? £40 million Premier League defender Nathan Ake on way back to the Bridge?
Fresh reports have claimed Chelsea may try and complete a deal for Nathan Ake during the summer window, But should they make a move?
Chelsea were unable to sign any players during the summer transfer window, meaning that Frank Lampard will have to work with the current players he already has at the club, despite the fact that he is a bit light in certain areas of the pitch.
However, there is huge speculation in the media about whom the club could sign in the next transfer ban as their appeal date is set, with many reports on the media suggesting that it could actually be good news for Chelsea boss Lampard, as he may well be able to spend some serious money, with Ake on the shopping list.
David Luiz left the club to join London rivals Arsenal during the summer transfer window, meaning that the club are one defender down this season, despite FIKAYO TOMORI, who is tipped to become one of the best defenders in the Premier League if he develops under the guidance on Lampard.
Chelsea have shipped goals at an alarming rate this season, and while Tomori has impressed given the context of his breakthrough, he is still quite raw and the Blues could use some experience at centre-back.
And reports on the Daily Express website have suggested that Chelsea may in fact make a move for Ake in the January transfer window and meet the high £40 million valuation that has been placed on the head of the young defender.
SHOULD CHELSEA MAKE A MOVE?
Since leaving Chelsea on a permanent basis, Ake has become one of the most impressive defenders in the Premier League under Eddie Howe and his performances over the past 12 months have elevated his status in the game, with a number of top clubs also showing a keen interest in a possible deal.
Look adding to the squad must happen for Lampard to keep this great form going throughout the course of the season, but he needs to be careful and should only sign players that will come in and help improve the squad, not hinder the brilliant form of the gifted youngsters
Ake is good enough, and young enough, to be a worthwhile investment for CHELSEAand if they managed to secure a deal for the £40 million that is being talked about, he would certainly improve the current side.
Yes they should make a move for Ake
