Arne Slot confirms £27.5 Million Liverpool deal is happening
Arne Slot has opened up on Fabio Carvalho’s absence from Liverpool’s double header of pre-season friendlies this weekend, and confirmed the star is leaving the club this transfer window.
Carvalho, who has played for Portugal Under-21s, moved to LIVERPOOL from Fulham in the summer of 2022 and has featured 21 times for the Reds, scoring three goals.
The 21-year-old was on loan at Hull last season after the Reds made the decision to let him leave the club on loan in order to get some much needed game time under his belt.
The Reds had knocked back earlier bids for the Portugal Under-21 star, who impressed on loan at Hull City last season, but he is now all set to leave Liverpool after te Reds accepted a fee for the talented star
As a result, Carvalho missed both Liverpool’s games at Anfield on Sunday, with the club beating Sevilla 4-1 in Slot’s first home match, before drawing 0-0 in a behind-closed-door clash with Las Palmas.
Slot told a press conference: “From what’s been told to me, there is an agreement in place, but I haven’t spoken with our club.
“I was fully focused today on this game, so I don’t know exactly what the status of him is, but that was, of course, the reason why he wasn’t selected today.”

Look, Carvalho is a very talented lad that is just simply not ready to play in a LIVERPOOL side that is full of world class players – so the news that he is leaving the club will be sad for many of the fans – but it is probably the best decision for the mad.
Brentford are a quality Premier League side that will help him develop over the next few seasons – so as we just said – this is a great move for the lad and one that will help his development.
