PL giants sent transfer message about letting powerhouse SIGN with West Ham

Alan Smith thinks selling Harry Maguire this summer is a mistake for Man United, as he looks set to sign for WEST HAM.

With West Ham looking to get some transfer business done over the next few weeks, there has been alot of speculation that Maguire is a player that David Moyes really wants.

The England International is seemingly done at Old Trafford after being stripped of the captaincy and told that he is no longer guaranteed a place in the starting line-up, opening the door for the Hammers to make an offer.

It is believed that a bid of £30 million has been accepted by the Red Devils and the WEST HAM board are now working hard to get the finer details done in order to make an official announcement.

However – amid all the speculation and the rumours – Smith has opened up and told Man United that it may be a mistake to let Maguire leave this summer.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –

Speaking to Gambling Zone, HE said: “Realistically I think Harry Maguire knows he’s not going to play every game, he’s probably come to terms with that. But I think it will be up to Harry if he stays or goes. I suspect Ten Hag doesn’t want him to go because to go close you want those type of people at your club.

‘He could play 20 games and be really consistent.

“When he first came there was a lot of pressure after that price tag to give him the armband anyway, and both pressures must have been difficult for him. It might help him to release some pressure if he stays.

‘You look at other clubs, and to compete you need four class centre-backs to compete or at least three. He’s probably got a bigger part to play than people think. If they want to win the league and be successful in Europe they will need strength in depth.

‘It will be up to Maguire if he needs first-team football every week.”
