Solskjaer has been told £80 million signing ‘would offer protection’ to Manchester United back-line

Tony Cascarino reckons West Ham star Declan Rice could offer Manchester United added security in midfield.

It is no secret that United are massive fans of Rice, who has developed into one of the very best players in the Premier League over the last few seasons, and there is alot of talk that they may make a move this transfer window.

Amid all the transfer speculation linking United with a move to try and sign Rice, who would cost the Red Devils around £80 million to acquire, Cascarino has opened up and told Solskjaer that the Englishman would bring a bit more protection to that back-line.

Cascarino told TalkSport: “Declan Rice can protect people.

“I learnt this early on in my career, one of the biggest skills you can have is do the simple things really well and if you can, you’ll be one hell of a player.”

Cascarino is right and if United managed to add Rice to the squad, he would bring a little more protection to the squad. But he is not a one-trick pony and has the ability to control the game from the middle of the pitch.

He is a wonderful player with a bright future in the game, we are just hoping that he makes the right career choice after he leaves the Hammers, because that day will come, and he will have to step up his game when he makes that big move to a top four club.

Are United the right one? They certainly play the game the way that Rice likes.
