Hoping for the best! Manchester United boss Solskjaer provides Paul Pogba contract update

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hoping Manchester United can agree a new contract with Paul Pogba ahead of the summer window.

No-one has ever doubted the ability of Pogba during his time at Old Trafford and no one has ever believed that he cannot lead the club to glory, it has just been his performance levels and attitude in the pitch that has bothered many out there.

But since the return of the Premier League and the partnership with Bruno Fernandes, Pogba looks like a totally different player and is putting in the type of performances that many Manchester United fans had been hoping to see.

But with the player still tipped with a move away from Old Trafford – with his agent Mino Raiola keen to engineer a move – Solskjaer is hopeful he will extend his stay.

“I can’t comment on discussions between players and the clubs but of course we want to keep the best players around the club,” Solskjaer told Sky Sports

“We want to build a squad for the future. Scott [McTominay] and Nemanja [Matic] are similar in position but they are at different stages in their careers. One is at the start, one really experienced, and then we also need players in that mid-range group.

“Hopefully we can do something. I know that since Paul came back he is looking better and better, he is enjoying his football and let’s see where it takes us.”

There is no doubt that Pogba is a very special player for Manchester United and it is a shame that he has not produced earlier in his career at Old Trafford, but if they can keep him and add a few more world class players to the side, then it would not be a shock to see the Red Devils once again challenging for major titles.
