Sorry Andoni: Arsenal to pull off hijacking of summer with £130 million move
Arsenal could be ready to rival Liverpool for the signing of Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, with the Gunners reportedly revisiting their interest in the France international after missing out on Vinicius Junior.
The 23-year-old has emerged as a potential alternative for Arsenal as Mikel Arteta continues to assess attacking options ahead of the new season. Barcola’s representatives are understood to have made contact with the north London club to establish whether they would be prepared to reignite their interest.
Liverpool have already held preliminary discussions with PSG over a potential deal for the winger, according to the latest reports. However, the reigning Premier League champions are yet to make a formal move, with PSG’s valuation believed to be a major obstacle.
The French champions are reportedly demanding around £145 million for Barcola, a figure that neither Liverpool nor Arsenal currently appear willing to meet.
ARSENAL are believed to value the former Lyon academy graduate closer to £130m, leaving a sizeable gap between their valuation and PSG’s asking price. Any move would therefore require significant negotiations if the Gunners are to turn their renewed interest into a concrete offer.
Barcola has established himself as an important player for PSG since joining the club from Lyon in 2023. His pace, direct running and ability to operate from either flank have made him one of the most highly regarded young attackers in European football.
The winger has also become a regular for France and was part of the squad that reached the 2024 European Championship semi-finals. His continued development at club level has only increased his market value.
For Arsenal, Barcola’s profile could make him an attractive addition as Arteta looks to add further quality and depth to his attacking options. The Gunners have been exploring the market for a high-level winger and previously made an approach for Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior before that pursuit failed to produce an agreement.
LIVERPOOL‘s interest could add another layer of competition to the race. The Reds have already made contact with PSG, but their willingness to meet the French club’s valuation remains unclear.
Much could now depend on whether ARSENAL decide to act on the approach from Barcola’s representatives. If the Gunners can convince PSG to lower their demands, the situation could develop into a battle between two Premier League heavyweights
