Sorry Arsenal after Manchester United told to wrap up shock Premier League deal for Rodgers
Manchester United have been told to make a move for Brendan Rodgers before Arsenal snap up the Leicester boss.
The Gunners hierarchy finally admitted their defeat in trying to prove that Emery was the right man to get the club back inside the top four spots this season, and got rid of the Spanish boss early on Friday Morning.
Focus has now turned onto whom will be the immediate replacement for the Spanish boss at the Emirates, with some reports in the media claiming that the Gunners have put the impressive Rodgers high up on the shopping list.
Rodgers has once again become one of the most sought after managers in the Premier League after guiding Leicester back inside the top four spots for the first time since he famously won the Premier League, with many tipping the foxes to challenge for that Premier League title.
But former Gunners ace Charlie Nicolas believes United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be in ‘trouble’ if Manchester United fail to beat Aston Villa on Sunday and would be ‘amazed’ if Rodgers was not being considered as a replacement.
He told Sky Sports: ‘If Man Utd do not see off Villa, and with games against Tottenham and Man City coming up, Solskjaer could be in trouble and I think they should go for Brendan Rodgers too, along with Arsenal.
‘He won nine domestic titles at Celtic and it might be a lot easier there but he knows how to do it. ‘It is not a case of being insecure, Rodgers has his beliefs and strengths and goes and does it. I would be amazed if Manchester United were not interested in him.’
Look Rodgers has done a wonderful job at Leicester and they would be foolish to let him leave, so even though both Arsenal and United are two of the biggest clubs in the game right now, their squads need a lot of work, something that Leicester don’t need to sort out.
They may both like the idea of Rodgers, but it would take something crazy to prize him away from Leicester this season.
