Spaniard in talks over summer move – Liverpool to get £200m chance – Klopp told to get summer deal done

here is a roundup of the top Liverpool news and gossip from icfootballnews that we think you guys may have missed –

A hip injury ruled Thiago out for most of last season, with Jurgen Klopp not able to start him since the 3-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers in February.

The Spaniard’s frustrating campaign epitomized LIVERPOOL ’s mood overall as he struggled to make an impact in 2022-23, and there is a feeling that he could be sold this summer.

A report last month claimed Thiago is wanted by former club Barcelona, where he emerged as a youngster over a decade ago, but there has also been talk that a move to Saudi Arabia could happen.

WHAT IS THE LATEST –

A new report from Fanatik in Turkey claims that Galatasaray have held multiple meetings with Thiago as they look to gauge the Spaniard’s interest in a move to the Super Lig.

They claim that Gala vice-president Erden Timur has travelled to England on multiple occasions and has tabled a ‘very good offer’ to the midfielder.

SHOULD LIVERPOOL SELL THE SPANIARD?

Thiago is a world class player that is just not Premier League material – his body cant handle it.

If a right offer does arrive then maybe Klopp will be open to selling – but Thiago would definitely be interested in making a move back to Barcelona and establishing himself in that squad.

So the news that he has been in talks over a move to TURKEY – is crazy – we really cant see that happening.

If he does decide to go there – it will be a massive mistake – either go back to Barcelona or make the mega money move to Saudi Arabia and collect the money.

However – we cant really see him leaving the club.

Mbappe chance –

Liverpool target Kylian Mbappe has been told to leave Paris Saint-Germain by former Director Leaonardo.

Mbappe has announced he will not be extending his stay at Paris Saint-Germain beyond next summer, Despite the insistence of his happiness in Paris, the confirmation of his non-renewal has prompted widespread reports of his exit.

Real Madrid and Liverpool were the front runners to sign the French World Cup winner before he renewed at PSG, and have retained an interest.

Now to avoid a situation where the 24-year-old leaves for free next summer, Al-Khelaifi has revealed that the Frenchman will not be leaving on a free transfer.

PSG face the dilemma of allowing Mbappe to run down the final year of his contract and being unable to recoup any of the €180m they spent to sign him from AS Monaco in 2017.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –

“For the good of PSG, I think the time has come for Mbappe to go, no matter what,” Leonardo said in an interview with L’Equipe.

“Paris-Saint-Germain existed before Kylian Mbappe and it will exist after him. He’s been in Paris for six years and, over those six seasons, five different clubs have won the Champions League (Real Madrid in 2018 and 2022, Liverpool in 2019, Bayern Munich in 2020, Chelsea in 2021 and Manchester City in 2023), none of which had Mbappe in their ranks. That means it’s entirely possible to win this competition without him.”

COULD LIVERPOOL REALLY SIGN MBAPPE?

Look, money talks.

Right now there are only a few clubs in Europe that afford Mbappe – Real Madrid are not one, Barcelona are not one, Bayern Munich are not one, Liverpool are one.

Jurgen Klopp is a massive fan on the man and if there is really a chance to get a deal done – LIVERPOOL could make that offer.

His wages may be an issue though as he is on close to a £1 million a week – Liverpool will not pay that.

Klopp told to sell Thiago –

Liverpool have been told that they should allow Thiago to depart the club this summer transfer window.

WHAT HAS HE SAID –

“He’s not guaranteed to start, so it wouldn’t surprise me if he did leave.“ GABBY AGBONLAHOR told Football Insider.

“But you know  Liverpool need a bit more legs in that centre midfield so I can see him maybe moving on this summer. It’s incredible when you think about it, given how good he is.

“I don’t think he is finished, but I can tell you that the fact that he took Liverpool out of his social media profile’s could be very telling.

“He still has a lot to offer, but he is used to starting and after bringing in two midfielders alongside Henderson and Fabinho, it is unlikely that he will get any gametime with the players signed and more coming in.”
