Arsenal have been told that signing Mikel Merino would close the gap on champions Manchester City.

The Gunners have been linked with so many players over the past few months as many fans expected the Gunners to bring in a few quality players to add to the squad, but so far only David Raya has been signed by the club.

But it is widely expected that ARSENAL will look to add to that attack this transfer window – and Merino is a player that has been linked with a move to the Emirates over the past few weeks after his impressive performances in the Euros 2024 for Spain.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is said to be a big fan of him and is prepared to sanction a deal that would see the 28-year-old earn the most lucrative contract of his career, potentially double what is currently on.

Ex-Gunners and Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre reckons Merino would be a quality addition – Silvestre told bettingexpert.com: “Mikel Merino is another profile that would suit Arsenal and the style of play.

“There’s room in the midfield but the places are tough to get with Ødegaard, Rice, Jorginho, Havertz and Partey so it’s not easy but they need competition to close the gap (with City).”

And that has led to constant speculation in the media over the past few months that ARSENAL will once again delve into that transfer kitty and add another striker to that attack that has the ability to score goals and Gyokeres is reportedly on the list.

The Swedish striker has been in sensational form this season scoring 43 goals in all competitions for the club last season and is a player that all the big clubs are after.

With that in mind, Betfair have provided the latest odds regarding the 26-year-old’s future and have Arsenal at 4/1 to get a deal done for the striker.

Reporter Iomie Stanley recently claimed that Gyokeres would score goals in the Premier League- Stanley told icfootballnews: “I watched him last year scoring goals for fun. You thought what a goalscorer and what a finisher. [Clubs] sit on the fence and are scared to make a judgement.

BROBBEY WANTS PREM MOVE – 

Ajax striker and Arsenal linked Brian Brobbey is keen to play in the Premier League next season, according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.

Asked by Helden Magazine about his future, Brobbey recently said: “Real Madrid, Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham, those are nice clubs.

“But, if I stay at Ajax, that is certainly not a punishment.”

Brobbey has been impressive this season and it is easy to see why there is so much speculation regarding his future.

But we cant see him joining ARSENAL, we cant see him joining Real Madrid – but we can see him making the move to Man United.

As we said – we cant see him joining Arsenal anytime soon simply because he is not any better than what the club have right now.
