Spanish Boss makes transfer statement – Chelsea keen on world class defender
Barcelona coach Xavi has confirmed that star defender Ronaldo Araujo is happy to continue at the Catalan club amid interest from Chelsea.
Araujo has been a player that has been linked with a move to the Premier League for the last few seasons and he could once again be on the transfer market if Barcelona make a decision on his future.
While the centre-back has been linked with a move away – the 25-year-old has repeatedly stressed his desire to stay at the Catalan outfit.
However, the Uruguay international admits he may not have a great deal of say over his future, with According to a recent report on Sport, Barcelona are prepared to sell their star defender Ronald Araujo in the upcoming summer transfer window for €80m.
It is understood the defender, whose contract expires in 2026, has a €1 billion (£855.6m/$1.1b) release clause and Several top European clubs including Bayern Munich and Manchester United are also keen on signing the Uruguay international.
However – Xavi has come out and stated that the defender is happy at the club and looks set to stay at the club in the summer – Speaking to reporters, the Blaugrana manager said, “I always talk with Roni and he knows what I think. There are zero doubts about his future on my side. He knows what I want for his future and he’s happy here.

If Barcelona make the decision to sell the defender in the Summer window – he would be a brilliant addition to that CHELSEA side – especially.
But it is very clear what Xavi wants and what the player wants – so he will be staying put for another season at least.
