Sporting Director has backed Arsenal to complete stunning transfer signing of Eriksen
A deal to bring Christian Eriksen to Arsenal has been backed by Watford sporting director Cristiano Giaretta.
Eriksen made the move to Inter Milan just last season believing that it would give him a very good chance of adding some silverware to that cabinet, having not won anything during his time with Tottenham.
But his time over in Italy ha snot worked out and he has struggled to make any sort of impact with the Italian side, meaning that he has barely played and meaning that he is now free to leave in the January transfer window.
That has led to shock speculation in the media that Mikel Arteta may be interested in making a move to try and sign the Danish star, as he will be in their price range and could be a player that may add a bit more creativity to this Gunners attack.
Now, amid the speculation, Giaretta has backed Arsenal to make a move to sign the midfielder: “Arsenal are regaining confidence. They’re walking again and Eriksen, honestly, could be of use [at Arsenal],” he told Tutto Mercato, as translated by Football London.
Eriksen joined Inter from Tottenham in January, but has been placed on the transfer list already having been unable to break into Antonio Conte’s team.
“Every player needs trust, an opportunity. And at Inter he had few opportunities. He must feel strong, important,” Giaretta added.
Eriksen is a very good player, but is he really what Arsenal need? Can he come in and improve this Gunners attack?
The only thing going for him right now is the fact that he is proven in the Premier League, but after that unimpressive stint with Inter, he will be expecting to step up a couple of levels to get into this Gunners midfield.
The January window is just a few days away, it will be interesting to see if the Arsenal actually make a move.
