Sporting director Stuart Webber offers Arsenal chance to wrap up £35 million transfer deal
The prospect of selling the likes of Arsenal target Emiliano Buendia “doesn’t scare” Norwich ahead of their return to the Premier League, says the club’s sporting director Stuart Webber.
Arsenal have not had a very good season and are on the verge of finishing the season without European football and a trophy, which has not happened for more that 20-years.
That means that Mikel Arteta will be hoping to add some fresh faces to his squad in the transfer window and improve on the areas which have been a struggle, and Buendia is a player that has been on the radar of the Gunners after a very good season.
And amid all the speculation, Webber told BBC Sport: “It might be the end of the journey for some of them, it might be a club comes in that is off the scale.
“One of them may go, maybe two or all three of them will go, who knows – but the facts are that this team isn’t about one or two players.
“For us to be successful in the Premier League it’s going to be how does the squad of 20 do, not if one player performs brilliantly.
“When we sold James Maddison [to Leicester] everyone thought it was the end of the world and then a guy called Emi Buendia turned up – when Ben Godfrey left [for Everton] it was the end of the world and a guy called Ben Gibson turned up, and that’s football.”
Buendia is certainly a player that is ready for that step up to the Premier League, but maybe a move to Arsenal is a step too far, right now?
He needs to test himself in the top-flight first as a regular before making a move to a massive club like the Gunners, where he will be on the bench more often than he would like.
But for the right money, he could be a very goo option for the Gunners.
