Star ‘extremely enthusiastic about joining Arsenal’ – Gunners ace leaving – Arsenal hold talks to sign midfielder
Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news and gossip that we think you guys could have missed today –
David Ornestein has claimed that Ricccardo Calafiori is extremely enthusiastic about joining Arsenal this summer
Despite having the best defensive record in the Premier League last season – Mikel Arteta is keen to keep on adding to his squad over the next few months and buying players that he believes will improve the ARSENAL squad.
It has been claimed that Calafiori has agreed terms with the Gunners and the report says that negotiations over the transfer fee and the structure of the payments have progressed over the last few days with Arsenal paying a fee of around £42 million for the defender.
Speaking on the Athletic podcast, David Orstein said: “This is a target for Mikel Arteta, this is a player he’d like to sign. He may have to convince some within Arsenal of this, to get everybody on board, because I think there are some concerns around whether Arsenal need that position.”
“Clearly Calafiori is extremely enthusiastic about the possibility of joining Arsenal. I was told some time ago that he’s completely on board if the clubs can agree a deal.
“Bologna are asking for around €50m, which many in the game feel is significantly above his market value.”
Gunners icon David Seaman recently welcomed the possible addition of Calafiori to the side: ‘That would be another improvement to the squad,’ Seaman told Betway when asked about Arsenal’s pursuit of Calafiori.
‘William Saliba and Gabriel don’t get replaced in the starting line-up, but if Calafiori comes in it’s more competition for places, and depth in case of injury.
‘ARSENAL learned a tough lesson when Saliba was out two seasons ago. We missed him massively, and Takehiro Tomiyasu was injured at that time so Ben White couldn’t move to centre-back.
‘Whether the club need to sell one or two defenders will be on Mikel Arteta’s mind now. It’s tough to say who might leave – Kieran Tierney is injured again and might be out for a while with a bad hamstring injury.
‘As much as you want to continue buying players, you now have to balance the books with the profit and sustainability rules.’
EZE TALKS HELD –
It has now been claimed that Arsenal have held talks about a summer deal for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze
Arsenal could still lose a number of players over the course of the summer transfer window, ad a number of stars are no longer need, and the club will need to delve into that transfer kitty and sign players that can make an immediate impact.
According to recent reports in the media, the England international would cost around £60million and is a player that the Arsenal board are very much interested in signing over the course of the window after an impressive season for Crystal Palace.
According to Football Transfers, the Gunners have made contact with Eze’s camp, and the reports adds Arsenal have held talks about a potential deal
Amid all the speculation and rumours – David Seaman recently claimed Mikel Arteta needs more “finished articles” like the England Euro 2024 squad member, and the former Three Lions’ No1 told Betway that Eze, 25, would be a “quality addition to the Arsenal squad”.
He said: “He’s a quality player who was great for Crystal Palace at the end of last season and has also done really well when he’s played for England.
“I’m not sure he would go straight into the team because I don’t know whose position he would take. The last two years for Arsenal have been really positive, and you don’t want to disrupt the structure of the team.
“He’s the kind of player Arsenal should be signing – marquee players who have played in the Premier League before and know what it’s about. He’s the finished article.”

Eze is ready for that next step in his career – he is ready for a move to ARSENAL and if he did make that switch – he could be a very good signing. So if the right offer arrives for the big players at Palace – we are sure they could leave.
Mikel Arteta knows what he wants to keep on improving his side – Eze has the ability to play in a number of positions – so as we said – for the right money he could be a great addition to that Arsenal side.
SMITH ROWE TO LEAVE –
Arsenal are reportedly willing to sell Emile Smith Rowe for £30 million if they were to receive such an offer for the 23-year-old.
A couple of seasons ago – Smith Rowe was a member of the squad that Mikel Arteta loved to play on a weekly basis – but a series of injuries and some big signings by ARSENAL FC means that he is no longer part of the side.
That led to many reports in the media that West Ham and Chelsea are interested in a potential deal for the man over the summer – And the Hammers even contacted the Gunners over a potential deal for the player.
But despite all the rumours and despite all the transfer speculation – the decision was made by the Gunners to keep hold of Smith-Rowe and the player seemed happy enough to stay and fight for his place in the side.
However – he has once again struggled to get any real minutes in the side last season and there has been some reports in the media which have suggested that he could leave the club for a fee of £30 million
It comes as Arsenal are likely to begin offloading a number of players they see as potential funders for this upcoming season’s title challenge.
Reporter Dean Jones recently claimed that Arsenal will need to offload a number of players to keep on evolving – he recently told GMS:
“He would be a good signing for Fulham and is one of the players that is likely to leave ARSENAL this summer, but there is no way that you would be able to sign a player like that without some sort of competition and I have heard that Crystal Palace might be interested too.
“He’s a very good player, technically smart, and I think because of his injury lay-offs it has been forgotten just how good he really is. But obviously, Arsenal are at a stage where they have to keep evolving.
“In terms of value, he’s a tricky one to gauge because he is easily a £40million player, but because of his lack of game time, that figure might be hard to hit.
“Arsenal could certainly hope for £35million, but I think we might be looking at £30million as a starting point when offers are landing.”
