French International William Saliba has agreed terms on a new four-year contract at ARSENAL .

“(But) he always had the goal of playing in the Premier League.

‘We set up his current deal so that he could do so. If he has a chance to realise that now, it’s okay.

“He has rightly been selected for the Europa League Team of the Season.

‘He played a very good second half of the season. Even in games where the team was not so good, he played well. In the difficult games, Jona has taken an important role.”

Rice is a man that has been long linked with a move away from the Hammers – but after a trophy winning season with West Ham – it has now been confirmed that he will be departing the club.

That has led to all sorts of speculation in the media about where he could end up – but if you believe the reports by the Sun – he has now set his heart on moving to the Emirates.

West Ham are believed to be interested in the idea of a deal involving Emile Smith Rowe moving the opposite way.

Our insider said: “West Ham know they are in a strong position with this deal which is why targeting a talent like Emile Smith Rowe has become part of the conversation at the club.

“Nobody can replace Declan Rice, but David Moyes is a big fan of Smith Rowe and thinks he could really help the team as they rebuild and plan for life after Declan Rice.

“For a long period Smith Rowe was one of Arsenal’s best players but he has fallen down the pecking order a little bit. He won’t be a starter next season but Arsenal aren’t keen to lose the player.

“However, if it means getting Rice and keeping him away from Bayern Munich and Manchester United, it could ultimately end up being a road they are forced to go down. Rice is there main summer target.”

The source added: “Right now Declan is in a very strong position, but Arsenal is the move he really wants.
