Striker explains Arsenal transfer decision – incoming signing good signing for Arsenal – £35M star close to move
Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news and gossip that we think you guys could have missed –
Liverpool legend John Barnes has claimed that Riccardo Calafiori is a better signing for Arsenal than Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi.
ARSENAL are closing in on a deal for Calafiori after being linked with a switch for Guehi, making it unlikely that the North Londoners would sign the Crystal Palace centre-back as well.
But Barnes has suggested that they’ve chosen a better match for their squad in Calafiori, as the Italian star suits the style of the club more than what Guehi does – Speaking to bonuscodebets.co.uk, he said: “He [Calafiori] can play left-back and I think that Arsenal have really looked in that position and played a few people there.
“But I don’t think they necessarily got someone there that’s reliable.I think that will be a great signing.
“And now they could play three centre backs. So he’s very versatile.
“So, I think that would be probably even a better signing than Marc Guehi if you understand what I mean?”’

There has been alot said about the quality of Calafiori and many fans are excited to see just what he will bring to the club over the next few seasons – he is certainly a player that Mikel Arteta has been keen to sign for weeks.
There is plenty of time left in the transfer window for the Gunners to add a few more players to the side – as David Raya and Calafiori will not be enough to take that title away from Man City, a striker is definitely something that Arteta needs.
But we do agree with Barnes and signing Calafiori over Guehi is the best decision from that ARSENAL board – he is a quality player that will add some much needed depth to tat side.
SESKO EXPLAINS DECISION –
Benjamin Sesko has sent a message to the likes of Arsenal and revealed why he decided to stay at RB Leipzig this transfer window.
The 21-year-old scored 18 goals in all competitions last season and Arsenal alongside Arsenal were ready to trigger a £55m release clause and try to solve their need for a striker over the next few months, but that all ended last month after Sesko decided to sign a new long-term deal with Leipzig instead.
It meant that ARSENAL and Chelsea had to switch their transfer targets over the next few weeks
And after deciding to stay at RB Leipzig and signed a new contract extension. Explaining his decision, he told Nogomania: “I thought it through very well.
“I believe I made the right decision. I wanted to gain more experience, learn more, and not rush things. Leipzig is an excellent club that can provide what I need for the next step.
“Leipzig’s vision is clear; everything is geared towards growth, progress, and high goals. I felt it was right to decide this way.”

Look, Arsenal wanted Sesko, they were prepared to pay big money for the striker and were probably getting excited about the prospect of adding the young man to that front-line, but he made the right decision.
At this stage of his career – the way he is playing and the way that he is developing – staying in the Bundesliga with RB will give him more of a chance to get better and become world class.
He could have come to the Premier League, got a fat wage and struggled because he is not quite ready – it was a very wise decision from Sesko to stay put and although ARSENAL missed out on the lad – they would have surely respected his decision.
SMITH ROWE CLOSE TO MOVE –
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has given an update on the future of Emile Smith Rowe after reports emerged of the midfielder edging closer to a switch to Fulham.
Smith Rowe has been plagued by injury over the last two seasons and the arrival of Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice has seen the 23-year-old drop down the pecking order in north London.
It’s understood ARSENAL are have been prepared to let Smith Rowe leave and the club are listening to offers for the player, who came through the club’s academy before making his first-team debut in 2018
Now the Hale End academy graduate looks set to call an end to his time with the Gunners after falling down the pecking order in recent seasons, as According to The Athletic, Arsenal are close to reaching an agreement with Fulham to let the 23-year-old head to Craven Cottage.
The report suggests that a deal would be worth around £35m.
Smith Rowe was left out of Arsenal’s pre-season squad to face Bournemouth in the US this week and when quizzed on his absence, Arteta said: “: “There are things happening in the background at the moment and we decided the best thing to do was to keep (Smith Rowe) away from the game today.”

Smith Rowe is a brilliantly talented midfielder that has just been plagued by injuries – so getting £35 million for the player is some great business by the Gunners.
A move to Fulham is probably something that Smith Rowe does not really want to happen – but it could help the player reignite his career and get back to his best – but as we said – he would probably prefer to stay at Arsenal and challenge for titles
