Striker having Arsenal conversations – Arteta’s big transfer mistake – Arsenal can sign forward in January
Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news and gossip from icfootballnews that we think you guys could have missed today –
It has been claimed that ARSENAL can sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko in the January window to really push on and take that Premier League title away from Manchester City.
Over the course of the summer transfer window – there was so much speculation and rumours about who would come in and lead that attack for Mikel Arteta as they seek to claim that Premier League titles.
So many names were linked with a move to the Emirates, including the impressive Sesko, but in the end, Arteta made the decision to not sign a proven striker and keep what he had.
Kai Havertz has started the new season in fine fashion, while Gabriel Jesus is really struggling to get into the side, meaning that he could be sacrificed in the upcoming transfer window in order to sign a player like Sesko.
The Slovenian international signed a new contract with RB Leipzig in the summer and has already begun the season very well. Six goals and three assists in the first nine games including three in the first two Champions League matches against Juventus and Atletico Madrid is an excellent start.
However – despite that new contract being signed by the big striker – there has been some reports in the media which have now claimed that he could be available to sign in the winter window if the right offer arrives.
RB know that they will not be able to hold on to their star man if he continues to score the goals he has been, meaning that they are prepared to cash in should they get an offer that is simply too good to turn down.

Sesko is brilliant and showing ARSENAL why they should have signed him in the summer. Havertz has started the season very well, but every Arsenal fan knows that his form drops off and injuries will also happen.
This could be the season that Arsenal take that title off Man City – they just need to make sure they have the squad depth to do that.
DAVID CLAIM MADE –
Italian Journalist Fabrizio Romano has opened up and claimed that Lille Striker and Arsenal target Jonathan David is having conversations about a possible move to the Premier League, Spain and Italy.
In 196 games across all competitions for the club since joining in 2020, he has scored 92 and assisted another 20 and is a player that Arsenal were heavily linked with in the summer window, but failed to get a transfer deal done.
Mikel Arteta is known to be a loyal boss and believes that the attack he has could win alot of trophies this season, but that has not stopped the speculation in the media which has suggested that ARSENAL need to sign a new striker.
Fabrizio Romano has shared the latest on him, confirming that the player is having conversations with clubs across England, Italy and Spain – Speaking on The Debrief, he said:
“I don’t think this is a topic for October, November, December or January. It will be for the second-half of the season.”
“He will consider several things, not just financially, the project, the managers, so he’s not going to decide now.”
“For sure, he’s having conversations with several clubs, not him, his agent, clubs in England and clubs in Italy, clubs in Spain.”
“Jonathan David is one of the biggest names on the market for the summer of 2025. Again, before making any decisions, he will take his time, it’s not something for now or something for 2024.”
“Jonathan David will explore his options, but for sure, I expect him to leave Lille as a free agent.”

ARSENAL do need to sign a proven striker in the coming windows, David would be a great signing – but he may not be the player that Arteta really wants in the side – only time will tell if a move gets made.
ARTETAS TRANSFER MISTAKE
David James believes Mikel Arteta made a mistake selling ‘monster’ Emiliano Martinez and says he would be ‘perfect’ for the current Arsenal team.
Argentina World Cup winner Martinez spent almost a decade in Arsenal’s first-team but was restricted to just 38 appearances as he continually failed to establish himself as a man that could be the Gunners long-term number one.
Martinez was finally sold to Aston Villa in 2020 for £17m after spending a few seasons out on loan, and has now gone on to firmly etsablish himself as one of the very best goalkpeekers in the world, and not just the Premier League
David Raya has established himself as one of the best shot-stoppers in the Premier League since joining ARSENAL but ex-England goalkeeper James still believes it was a mistake to sell Martinez.
‘It’s interesting when you look at Premier League goalkeepers over a number of years now, there’s not many characters,’ James said on the Seaman Says podcast with Betway. ‘Prior to that there were more characters for whatever reason.
‘He [Emiliano Martinez] has character, everything about him is character, he’s a big-game player. He wants to be in the biggest games.
‘When you look at the Raya and Ramsdale situation at Arsenal and obviously Martinez was allowed to go because of Bernd Leno, who’s a decent goalkeeper.
‘But I think Martinez would have been the perfect goalkeeper for Arsenal right now. I think he’s a monster.
‘Weirdly there’s not a lot of goalkeepers in the Premier League these days who are capable of getting to the top corner.’

Martinez was always going to be a world class goalkeeper – he just needed the right club to prove that and that is why a move to Villa needed to happen. But now that Arteta has Raya between the sticks – he is probably not too worried about letting Martinez go.
But there are surely quite a few ARSENAL fans that would have loved to see the World cup winner stay at the club – he really is quality.
