Striker tells Chelsea he’s open move – Blues told £40M star ‘perfect’ for club – Blues most likely sign superstar
Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news and gossip from icfootballnews that we think you could have missed featuring the likes of Victor Osimhen, Ivan Toney and Victor Gyokeres…
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is the player that Chelsea are most likely to sign this summer window according to the latest reports as speculation continues tat they want to add a new striker to that attack.
There is alot more transfer talk in the media that CHELSEA still wants to add a new striker to the side that has the ability to score goals on a weekly basis, and Osimhen is a plan that the Blues would love to add to the squad.
He has already put in a transfer request in order to force a move out of the club and Napoli are willing to allow the star to leave if the right amount of money is paid – with reports suggesting that £87 million will get the Nigerian star all signed up.
PSG have also been chasing the big star in recent weeks – but if you believe the recent reports – Paris Saint-Germain are not actively trying to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli at the moment, meaning that Chelsea are clear favourites.
Football.Lonond reporter Kieran King writes: “If Chelsea are going to sign a new centre forward before the end of the transfer window, it does feel like Victor Osimhen is the one they will get. The Nigerian has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge throughout the summer and his name continues to be the hottest topic.
“Although Nicolas Jackson scored for Chelsea against Wolves, I do feel like Chelsea might need another centre forward and Osimhen does feel the perfect fit considering his goalscoring record. I should stress that Armando Broja, David Datro Fofana and Romelu Lukaku should leave first, however.”
Amid all the speculation and rumours – Reporter Iomie Stanley has opened up and again told Chelsea to sign the big man: “£161 million on players that are not ready to make any sort of impact on the club this season, that is what that Chelsea board have been signing.
‘Players that are more likely to keep the bench warm – be sent out on loan or just be forgotten about – that is what the board feel is the right direction of the club – that is what the AMERICAN owners believe is the way forward.
“They need to sign on world-class striker, If they can sign Osimhen, then I would feel a lot more confident about the club’s chances of qualifying for the top four because he is a world-class player. CHELSEA need to change that transfer policy.
‘The game against Man City at the weekend showed that this side arent ready to compete for titles – they are not good enough – and the bench had a bunch of unknowns sitting on it.
‘They should do everything that they can to a striker… Osimhen seems to be the clubs number one target – but they need to make some real quality signings.’
TONEY PERFECT?
Strong words from Teddy Sheringham, who has claimed that Brentford striker Ivan Toney could be perfect for Chelsea this summer, as the Blues continue to be linked withe a possible move for the England star.
The transfer window till has a few days worth of rumours in it and it will give Chelsea more chances to start getting some deals done that will send a statement to the rest of the Premier League for new boss Enzo Maresca.
CHELSEA performed terribly last season and really struggled for goals, with Cole Palmer the only player to break the 20 goal barrier, so it is vital that the Blues board allow Maresca to add a new forward to that attack over the next few months.
The Brentford talisman was strongly linked with a move to Chelsea in the summer and is a man that the Blues could sign, something that Sheringham believes could be perfect for the Blues, He told Prime Casino:
‘At Ivan Toney’s age – he’s 28-years-old – he absolutely shouldn’t be thinking about a move to Saudi. That’s an attractive option for him at the end of his career – he would be wasted playing over there in his prime.
‘I would tell Toney, don’t worry about the wages being offered, you’ll get those opportunities later, stay in the Premier League and score goals in the best division in the world.
‘I’m very surprised that he hasn’t gone anywhere yet. I think he would be the perfect fit for so many clubs in the Premier League. Before Tottenham signed Solanke, I was hoping that we were looking at him.
‘I’ve said this before, I don’t want him to sign for Arsenal, because they’ve got a lot of good players already, but he would be perfect for them. I think he would be perfect for CHELSEA too, even with all the problems in West London.
‘He’s an old-school centre forward that causes defences so many problems. Scoring goals is the most difficult job in football, and he’s got proven pedigree when it comes to hitting the back of the net.
‘The window closes on Friday. Maybe some Premier League clubs are waiting to see if they can pinch him on a reduced fee, but I’d be amazed if he was still at Brentford when the window closes.’
STRIKER GYOKERES OPEN TO LATE MOVE
Long-time Chelsea target Victor Gyojeres has revealed that he is open to a move away from Sporting Lisbon this transfer window, but has also admitted that he is happy to stay at the Portuguese club
Nicolas Jackson seemed to have the trust of his old manager Mauricio Pochettino, but it does not look like that will stop CHELSEA from entering the market for a new No.9.
He has been impressive at time during his stint at Stamford Bridge, but he does not look like a forward that has the ability to push on and score 20-30 or even 40 goals a season for the Blues.
And that has led to constant speculation in the media over the past few months that CHELSEA will once again delve into that transfer kitty and add another striker to that attack that has the ability to score goals and Gyokeres is reportedly on the list.
The Swedish striker was in sensational form this season scoring 43 goals in all competitions for the club last season and is a player that all the big clubs are after.
And Speaking after Sporting CP’s 5-0 win on Friday, in which he scored a hat-trick, Gyokeres kept the door open to a summer exit – he said: “We never know what’s going to happen. It doesn’t just depend on me. We’ll see, but I feel good here.
“In football, in the transfer window, it’s normal, there are things we don’t know, that happen quickly. But I love being here, there’s no stress.”
Reporter Iomie Stanley recently claimed that Gyokeres would score goals at CHELSEA – Stanley told icfootballnews: “I watched him last year scoring goals for fun. You thought what a goalscorer and what a finisher. [Clubs] sit on the fence and are scared to make a judgement.
“He’s good enough. He’ll score goals. He scored at Coventry, he has scored alot of goals for Sporting. There’s talent out there that may not cost alot of money, he is just the type of player that the Chelsea board like to sign.’
