Ex-Premier League striker urges Arsenal to go ahead and make move for Edouard this summer, who will make Van Dijk impact
Chris Sutton has gone ahead and urged Arsenal to make a move for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard in the summer.
Now we all know that Arsenal failed to make any big signings in January, and we also know that Arsenal failed to do any transfer business that would help Mikel Arteta improve the side and help take the club back to the top by the end of the season.
But there is a feeling that Arteta will improve the squad in the summer with a few top-class additions, as reports have suggested that he will have around £150 million in the kitty to improve his side in all the key areas of the squad that actually need working on.
And that has led to speculation that Arsenal will try and get a transfer deal done for the impressive Odsonne Edouard, who is making all the right nooses in the game after netting an impressive 22-goals this season.
Sutton wrote in his Daily Record column: “French striker Edouard is going to the very top just like Van Dijk and he’s been sensational.
“The striker can do everything. He links the game, he makes runs, he creates and he is a quality finisher.
“Edouard really assumed the mantle of responsibility as Neil Lennon chased the nine last season and delivered in emphatic style for his boss and team.”
Is Odsonne Edouard ready for the Premier League? we dont know, all we know is that the man knows how to find the back of the net on a weekly basis, which is very attractive for most clubs.
He is the right kind of age, and the right kind of price for Arsenal to go out and try to acquire his services for a bargain fee, but there will always be some doubt as to whether he can score that amount of goals in England.
The Scottish League and English League are two completely different standards, but it could be a risk worth making for the Gunners?
