Everton star and Manchester United target Jarrad Branthwaite is refusing to sign a new contract, with his current deal running out in 2027.
Manchester United made two bids for Branthwaite, the first worth £35million with £10m in add-ons and the second worth £45m plus £5m in add-ons – the Toffees value him at £70m.
The centre-back agreed personal terms with Manchester United and was offered a deal worth £160,000-a-week, but in the end, the Red Devils decided to make the move for Leny Yoro after they failed to agree a deal with Everton for their star defender.
But according to The Daily Mail, the England international won’t pen fresh terms at Goodison Park unless the Merseysiders can match the Red Devils’ proposal, which is something they cannot do right now.
A potential move to Manchester United have wavered in recent weeks since the arrival of Yoro – But Man United still rate the defender very highly and could make a move for Branthwaite should he come onto the market this summer, or in the future.

It could have been a dream move for the young man and the only thing that stopped a potential deal – is the amount of money that Everton were demanding for a player that has done nothing in the game.
They may want to keep Branthwaite – but he clearly has big dreams and will move away in the coming seasons – even if he does manage to agree a new contract at the club in the coming weeks.
But he needs to keep focused and not dwell too much on what could have been – he is far too good to not develop over the next few seasons.
RASHFORD CLAIM MADE –
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is convinced Marcus Rashford will return to his 30-goal form of two seasons ago.
Rashford has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons this season and looks nothing like the player that netted 30 goals for MAN UNITED just a few seasons ago.
He has really struggled this season under boss Erik Ten Hag and has only managed to score 8 goals in all competitions for Manchester United, which is not good enough for a player of his ability.
Speculation about him leaving the club this summer has wavered in recent weeks – but there has been more talk that the England striker could once again be sold at some point this transfer window.
However – Erik ten Hag is convinced Marcus Rashford will return to his 30-goal form of two seasons ago, and the Manchester United manager is equally sure new coach Ruud van Nistelrooy can show him how.
Ten Hag said: “That is the reason why he is here. But not only for the strikers, he is much more than this but Rashford can only improve himself.
“He is capable, he scores so many goals and at a relative young age, so many goals, so he is capable of it.
“I am confident and have 100 per cent belief he can do the same as two years ago.”

It was a shame to see that Rashford dropped his level last season and looked like a player that was ready to leave the club – but if Van Nistelrooy can get the best out of the attacker – Rashford is world class.
There has been alot of speculation about him leaving MAN UNITED – but we are sure that he will stay, especially after the words of Ten Hag.
YORO CLAIM MADE –
Harry Maguire believes new Manchester United team-mate Leny Yoro has “every attribute” needed to become a superstar defender.
After establishing himself as one of the most exciting young talents in the French League – there was alot of speculation that the defender was very keen on a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Madrid were very keen on signing Yoro, but not until next summer, and were ready to pay big money in order to get a deal done – but Manchester United wanted to sign the lad this transfer window and made their move.
They put an offer to Lille, that was accepted – they put an offer to Yoro and his team accepted that – and he has already made his pre-season debut for the Red Devils – which he looked very impressive
And England star Maguire, 31, has now come out and revealed that he believes Yoro has all the potential to become a world class player for United – he told The Athletic: “It’s our job as senior centre backs, my job, to help him along, communicate well, let him know what to expect.
“We must remind ourselves he is really young. There are gonna be mistakes.
“But he has every attribute of a centre back in the modern game, so I’m sure he’s gonna have a bright future.
