In-demand Dutchman Ten Hag ‘honoured’ to be linked with Chelsea as summer message sent to Abramovic

Ajax head coach Erik ten Hag has admitted that he is honoured to be linked to Chelsea and Barcelona.

Ten Hag has become one of the most sought after young managers in the game over the course of the last 12 months after turning Ajax back into one of the most attractive sides to watch in Europe, especially during their amazing run in the Champions League.

The 49-year-old has been the mastermind behind Ajax’s remarkable success this season and gained plaudits for steering the club past the likes of Juventus and Real Madrid to reach their first Champions League semi-finals for 22-years.

And there has been some speculation in the media that Chelsea may look to try and secure his services at the end of the season, if Maurizio Sarri fails to bring the Europa League title to Stamford Bridge against Arsenal.

Sarri may be one of the most highly-rated managers in the game, but his style of play has not won all sections of the Blues fans over despite the fact he has guided the side back inside the top three of the Premier League and into two finals.

Addressing speculation over his future, Ten Hag said: ‘It’s an honour to be linked with big clubs like Barcelona, Bayern and Chelsea but I have a contract with Ajax and I am happy here.

‘There are no problems for me. I am happy and I’m planning my future here, I am not thinking about leaving.’

There is no doubt that Ten Hag has done a wonderful job at Ajax and will eventually get a move to one of the biggest clubs in the game, but Chelsea need to give Sarri more of a chance to get things right as he has already done a great job with the club.

Getting back inside the top four was his priority this season ad he has done that, and the fact that he could be crowned European Champion in his first season in English football, what more do Chelsea fans want.

Sarri should stay beyond the summer and Chelsea would be mad to hire Ten Hag as his replacement, especially as the Ajax boss still has a lot to prove in the game.
