World class midfielder ‘would be great FREE signing’ for Newcastle
Newcastle still have a chance to offer Thiago Alcantara a move to the club before he decides to make the switch to Saud Arabia.
Thiago was signed by Liverpool four years ago in a move that many were excited about after the Spanish star made a name for himself as one of the best midfielders in the game while at Bayern Munich.
However – The FA Cup winner with the Reds has been hit by injuries over the past two seasons, making just one appearance this term, and that led to alot of speculation that he was no longer needed at the club.
And after a few months of speculation – LIVERPOOL confirmed that Thiago is departing the club last month: “Before he even came to Liverpool I believed that if you really love football it would make a lot of sense if you watched Thiago Alcantara play,” said Jurgen Klopp.
“Technically, he is so, so good. A talent who could play in any team in the world and it was a privilege to have him with us.
“I already knew a lot about him as a footballer before he got here – what he did at Barcelona and Bayern Munich, how could you not? – and I could not have been happier when he decided to take on a new challenge with us.
“From that point on I got to see him up close and all I can say is ‘Wow’. Most importantly, he was part of a new story and helped us develop as a team because of his special qualities.”
And according to reporter Iomie Stanley – Newcastle should make an offer to sign the Spanish star, he said: ‘If the Toon can keep Thiago fit and healthy – he is one of the best passers in the game – he really is quality.
‘He may have struggled at Liverpool last season – but a move to Newcastle could help reignite his career and give the Toon a player that has competed at the very top, been successful at the top and has won countless trophies.
‘His injuries would be an issue – but there is no doubting that he is still a quality player guys.’
