Newcastle sent clear message about signing £350,000-a-week star from Premier League rivals

Newcastle have been warned signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would be a bad idea following rumours of their January interest.

Aubameyang has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons over the past 12 months as he has not been able to find his goal-scoring touch that prompted the Gunners to give him £350,000-a-week.

His performances this season, his disciplinary off the field has now led to reports in the media that Arsenal are very much open to the idea of letting him leave this transfer window, with a few clubs interested in a deal.

But now it has been claimed that super-rich Newcastle are eyeing up a possible deal, as they seek to sign some statement signings that will get them away from that relegation battle and push them up the table.

However, amid the speculation, Newcastle have been urged to not make a move for Auba, Former Premier League striker Tony Cascarino told talkSPORT: “He’s someone who is not in the Arsenal first-team, let’s get that right.

“Do you want a player who is going to show commitment, running, doing all the ugly stuff in the game that you’re going to need to survive? Does he do that very well? I’d say that’s the worst part of his game.

“Is he a quality footballer that can turn a game in a moment? At his best, yes. But when has he last done that regularly? Not very often this season, even towards the end of last season.

“I don’t see this deal being a good one for Newcastle at all. I think it will be more of an air of is Aubameyang doing Newcastle a favour and I probably think, no, he’s not going to be doing them a favour.”

Look, a couple of years ago Auba was one of the best strikers in the game and Newcastle would have been lucky to get hold of him, but he is not that player anymore. He would command a massive wage and wouldnt score the goals the Toon need.

He would not be a good signing
