Newcastle United have made decision about completing signing of £80,000-a-week target
It has now been claimed that Newcastle have made a decision about completing the summer signing of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Newcastle are in the headlines alot over the last few months as there are alot of speculation and rumours about players that could leave the club, and players that could come in and get the side challenging once again.
Calvert-Lewin is a long-term target as Newcastle have been keeping tabs on him for the last two years, and the club’s interest is expected to increase ahead of Callum Wilson’s imminent departure from St James’ Park.
The Telegraph reported that the Magpie’s interest in Calvert-Lewin dates back to 2021, and with the striker having just one year left on his deal at Goodison Park, he is reportedly keen on making the move to the Toon.
His contract will likely force Everton’s hand as they look to cash in on the 11-time England international to help shift the needle on their financial fair play concerns.
It had been reported that negotiations between the clubs are underway, but a fee is yet to be agreed, but now it seems that Newcastle have made the decision to not pursue the striker this summer.
Sources have revealed they were stunned by Everton’s refusal to lower their asking price for the 27-year-old.

We can see why Newcastle want to sign the striker – and if they can get the very best out of a man that was valued at £80 million just a few seasons ago – he could be a solid addition to the side
But alot of Toon fans will be happy that he is not getting signed this summer that is for sure.
