Newcastle Want To Complete Stunning Deal For Uruguayan international

According to a fresh report from TEAMtalk, both Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are weighing up an ambitious move to bring former Liverpool F.C. striker Darwin Núñez back to the Premier League.

The Uruguayan international, who left Anfield in the summer, is said to have emerged as a potential attacking solution for the two clubs as they look to reinforce their forward lines ahead of next season.

Núñez endured an inconsistent spell at Liverpool after joining from Benfica in 2022, producing flashes of explosive quality but struggling for sustained form in Jürgen Klopp’s system.

Despite a respectable goal return across all competitions, the club opted to reshape its attacking unit, leading to his exit. His performances since leaving England — marked by improved finishing and renewed confidence — have now reportedly placed him back on the radar of top-flight sides seeking a powerful, versatile forward.

For Tottenham, a move for Núñez would align with the club’s ongoing search for a long-term centre-forward following Harry Kane’s departure. Spurs is believed to be in the market for an athletic, mobile striker capable of stretching defences and contributing in transitional play — qualities Núñez has long been praised for.

Newcastle, meanwhile, are exploring attacking reinforcements amid ongoing injury concerns and the need to deepen Eddie Howe’s squad. Nick Woltemade has really struggled to score the goals the Toon had hoped for, the Magpies reportedly see Núñez as a candidate who could offer both depth and competition at centre-forward.

Newcastle’s project, fuelled by long-term investment and ambitions of competing regularly in Europe, may appeal to the striker as he weighs his next steps.

TEAMtalk reports that both clubs are assessing the financial feasibility of a deal, with Núñez’s current valuation likely to remain substantial given his age, physical profile and potential resale value.

Any move would depend on negotiations with his current club, as well as the player’s willingness to return to England after a two-year spell that brought both promise and frustration.

While discussions are still at an exploratory stage, interest from both Tottenham and Newcastle signals that Núñez remains highly regarded within Premier League circles — and his future could become one of the most intriguing storylines of the upcoming transfer window.
