Top Arsenal news: Striker ‘will sign up, Forget Zaha and sign £69 million powerhouse, Parlour wants Ancelotti signed, exciting star signs deal

Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news from icfootballnews over the past week.

Arsenal should forget about signing Wilfred Zaha and spend their money on the signing of Kalidou Koulibaly.

Ex-Gunners boss Uani emery was linked with a whole host of players during the summer transfer window, and many fans were excited to see what kind of players that the Spaniard would bring in to make a real statement to the Premier League and rest of the top four challengers.

But despite all the excitement, despite all the rumours and despite all the speculation, the Spaniard failed to acquire the type of players that could come in and make a serious impact on the side, and send a real statement to the rest of the Premier League, signings like Zaha.

And ahead of the January transfer in just a few weeks time, there has been a ton of speculation in the media all suggesting that Arsenal will once again reignite their interest in trying to sign Zaha.

However, they should spend that £80 million it would take to sign Zaha, and try to acquire the services of Koulibaly from Napoli.

Koulibaly has been outstanding for Napoli over the past few seasons and his performances has attracted all sorts of interest from the games biggest clubs, with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Real Madrid and even Barcelona all joining Chelsea and Arsenal in the chase for the defenders signature.

He is valued at around £150 million, but there have been some reports in Italy which have claimed that the Italian giants may in fact be willing to let the powerhouse defender leave for just £69 million in the January transfer window, in order to balance their books and bring in a number of players to help improve their side.

And the next Arsenal boss will be hoping to get the funds he needs to help improve this back-line at the Emirates and in the process, save his job at the Emirates as his future hangs in the balance.

Former Tottenham star Tim Sherwood has claimed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang wants to sign a new contract at the Emirates

Aubameyang was signed by legendary boss Arsene Wenger just before he decided to leave the club just a few seasons ago, and the striker has gone on to become one of the best forwards in the game, becoming a real source of goals for the Arsenal.

However, he has been stalling on a new contract with the Gunners for months now as there is feeling that he is not happy with the direction of the club, believing that he would be challenging for Premier League titles and playing Champions League football by now.

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has urged the club to ‘move quickly’ and appoint Carlo Ancelotti as their new manager.

Now we all know that Arsenal made the smart decision just a few weeks ago to get rid of Spanish boss Unai Emery after he failed to establish himself at the Emirates, and get the Gunners challenging for a top four spot and Premier League titles.

And recent reports in the media have also suggested that the Arsenal hierarchy are reportedly chasing the Italian following his sacking by Napoli, despite the fact he led the Italian giants into the knock out stages of the Champions League.

Reports have claimed that Arsenal would have no problem hiring Ancelotti on a deal until the end of the year, especially now that he is a free agent after getting the sack from the Italian giants.

Now Parlour insists that there’s no time to waste with a manager of his experience and record of winning trophies suddenly on the market.

“You can’t knock his record,” said the former midfielder on Thursday’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.

“I think they need a bit of experience to shake this squad up and try and get them defending better as a team and get them organised.

“A few days ago Ancelotti wasn’t available and, this is the mad thing about football, Napoli win 4-0 in the Champions League and suddenly three hours later he’s been sacked!

“He’s available and he knows the Premier League very well. Sometimes you’ve got to move quickly with managers.

“He’s a bit like [Jose] Mourinho; the trophies he’s won, 20 trophies!

“Obviously he’s been at big clubs and has had the opportunity to play in big tournaments and have good players, but he’s still got to manage big players and he’s done that so well over the years.

“That’s why you say he could be the right man for Arsenal.”

Young Arsenal goalkeeper Tom Smith has signed his first professional contract with the club.

Arsenal have been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons over the past few months as there has been a lot of speculation about whom could be coming and going in the next few transfer windows.

The Gunners are in the midst of a crisis, they are in need of adding a new manager to the side and is also in need of adding some big time players to the squad, especially if they want to get back challenging for titles.

But away from all the drama of the first team issues, the Gunners still have one of the best acadamies in the game and they have broken some good news for many Gunners fans, as Smith has earned his first professional contract.

The 17-year-old played an important role in last season’s under-18s title-winning campaign by keeping five clean sheets in eight games. He spent the start of this season on loan at Salisbury in the Southern League Premier Division, but returned to the club early due to injury.

Arsenal posted on their official website: “Everyone at the club would like to congratulate Tom on his new contract and we look forward to his continued development.

“The contract is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.”
