Top Man United news: South American wants to be at United, Midfielder ‘wont turn down’ United move, Neymar closes in on United move
Here is a roundup of the top Manchester United news from icfootballnews.com over the past week.
Sergio Romero says he wants to stay at Manchester United for as long as he possibly can.
Romero has been a solid addition to the United side since his move to Old Trafford and has been a very good back-up to star stopper David De Gea, who has become one of only a handful of world class players at Old Trafford.
But there has been some speculation in the media which has suggested that Romero could leave the club during the summer transfer window, with a number of top clubs reportedly eyeing up a potential deal for the South American.
But Romero has come out and stated that he wants to stay with United, telling the TalkSport website: “When you get the chance to play for the greatest club in the world, and the chance to wear this shirt, it’s almost like fulfilling a dream – a dream coming true.
“So it’s something you’re not going to turn down. When I got the chance to come to Manchester United, it wasn’t that I accepted that I was only going to play just a few games. It’s not your intention to be second choice and, when [Louis] van Gaal gave me the opportunity, I grabbed it.
“Here, within this club, both the staff and the players are one big family and we have goals: to fight hard every time we go out onto the field, to try to win trophies, to keep our fans happy.
“I’ve spent four fantastic years at this club. So much so that I want to stay here as long as I possibly can. If I was playing more regularly and featuring in more games, I would be the happiest goalkeeper and person in the world.
“But the fact that I’m still playing the odd game here and there, I’m still very happy with my situation because I’m at a great club which I want to stay at.”
Danny Murphy insists James Maddison would never turn down a move to Manchester United if they made a move.
Maddison has been making all the right noises in the Premier League over the past few seasons and his performances have led to a lot of transfer speculation that the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham were interested in a summer transfer deal.
However, both were not willing to match the high asking price that Leicester had placed on the head of Maddison, which is believed to be around £60 million, and that meant that Maddison had to stay put for at least another season.
However, The playmaker has been in fine form for the Foxes at the beginning of this season and was one of their star men last year as well, and reports suggest Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as well as Woodward see Maddison as the perfect acquisition.
And United are ‘confident’ they’ll complete the signing of James Maddison in the next couple of windows, with reports claiming Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side view the England international as their top target.
However, Maddison is set to sign a new deal with the high-flying foxes, and looks set to reject a move to Old Trafford, but Murphy says he would leave for United in a heartbeat if they do come in for him.
“You cannot tell me there’s a young English footballer at Leicester, no matter how well they are doing, who would turn down Manchester United. It’s not going to happen,” the former Liverpool star said, speaking on Sky Sports.
“If Man United come in for James Maddison and pay enough, he’s gone.”
“United still has the draw. The chance to play at Old Trafford – the Theatre of Dreams every week – irrelevant of United’s league position, he will go.”
Reports have claimed Manchester United target Neymar could leave PSG for just £150 million.
Now United fans saw months and months and months of transfer speculation in the summer about whom could be arriving to the club with reports suggesting that the hierarchy would be willing to back Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in his quest to get this United back challenging for titles.
And yes they managed to secure deals for the likes of Aaron Wan-Bassika, Harry Maguire and Daniel James, to name a few, but they still didn’t manage to add that superstar signing to the side that would make a real impact on the side and send a real statement to the rest of the Premier League..
Neymar was linked with a whole host of big clubs during the summer transfer window as he sought to leave the French giants and get back challenging at the top of the game, but PSG were not willing to sell their star man and in the end he was forced to stay in Ligue 1 for at least another year.
But according to according to Le Parisien, the Ligue 1 giants would look to recoup some of the £200m they paid Barcelona for the Brazilian and will look to offload the superstar, in hope they can keep Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe is one of the best players in the game already, despite being one of the youngest, and PSG see him as the future of the club and are keen to offer him a new deal in order to stave off interest from the likes of Real Madrid.
