Lucas Speaks! £26 million signing Torreira opens up and sends Arsenal fans transfer message!
Lucas Torreira has spoken about his Arsenal future, amid all the transfer speculation surrounding his future.
Torreira completed a £26million move from Sampdoria to Arsenal last summer and the 23-year-old had a promising debut season in north London, making 50 appearances in all competitions.
But so far this season the 23-year olf has struggled to kick on after his great first season and has only managed to start three Premier League fixtures under the guidance of Unai Emery, with suggestion she is not happy with life in the English game.
According to Calciomercato, the current uncertainty over his place in the team, coupled with Arsenal’s poor form, could see Torreira leave the club, and the 23-year-old is aware of interest from AC Milan and has already made it clear to Arsenal that he wants them to consider any offers
But Torreira says he is not letting the speculation surrounding his future affect him, though opened the possibility of revisiting a potential move when the window reopens.
Asked about the interest from Atletico, he told Uruguayan radio station Sport 890: ‘Today Arsenal needs me to be focused. I can’t start talking about another team.
‘I need to be focused and when the transfer window arrives we will see what will happen.’ He added: ‘I don’t know what can happen in the future. But I wish I could play in Boca. It’s a dream that I have for what that institution represents.’
rel=”noopener noreferrer” target=”_blank”>Arsenal fans should not worry too much about the words of Torreira, as the young man still has a very long contract at the Emirates and still has many years of playing at the very highest level left in him.
He has been a great buy from the club and will continue to develop into one of the best holding midfielders in the Premier League, he just needs the back-line to be sorted out so he doesn’t have to do cover all the mistakes of his team-mates.
So even though he has not had the best start to the season, Arsenal need to keep hold of this lad.
