Tottenham interested in signing unhappy Dutchman De Vrij in summer
Tottenham are one of the clubs interested in signing Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij, according to reports in Italy.
The January transfer window opened and then shut very quickly for Spurs fans, who were hoping to see a number of players arrive at the club to help in their quest for Champions League football, and they managed to bring in some very good players
But there has been more reports that the Spurs will look to add another defender to give the squad a bit more quality for next season, especially as Conte has been worried about the quality he has in the squad.
That Spurs back-line has looked more assured in recent weeks, but they have let far too many goals in at important times of the season, which has cost them the chance of adding some silverware to the cabinet.
Now, it seems that Conte is very much open to the idea of trying to secure a transfer deal to bring the unhappy de Vrij to the club
The Netherlands international is said to be disappointed that his contract hasn’t been extended by the Italian champions, despite multiple meetings between them and Mino Raiola, his agent.
De Vrij is reported to be happy to extend his stay at Inter, but will consider a move if necessary, especially as The Italian side are understood to be keen to sign Gleison Bremer, the Torino centre-back.
De Vrij is well known to Spurs head coach Antonio Conte, who had the 30-year-old in his title-winning squad last season during his time at Inter.
This Tottenham side have one of the best managers in the game and are surely only a couple of signings away from closing that gap on Liverpool and Man City for that Premier League title
If Conte can add a defender like De Vrij to the back-line, it would shore up that issue. But if he can get another wing-back – another midfielder and maybe one more attacker, teams should be worried next season
