Icon excited about Martinez joining Tottenham – message sent
Lautaro Martinez ‘would take Spurs to a different level’, former goalkeeper Paul Robinson says.
Martinez is regarded as one of the finest strikers in world football right now and there has been alot of speculation in the media that Antonio Conte is very much interested in bringing him to the Premier League
Recent reports have claimed that the North London outfit have expressed a concrete interest in the 24-year-old in recent weeks, and it has been suggested that Inter would sell if the £60 million asking price is met
And amid all the speculation that Tottenham are interested in a deal, Robinson has opened up and admitted that he is very excited about the prospect of the superstar making the move to the club
Speaking to Football Insider, Robinson, a regular pundit on Sky Sports who played for Tottenham between 2004 and 2008, expressed at his excitement at the prospect of landing the ‘amazing’ Martinez.
He believes it could give Antonio Conte a similar luxury to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
“I think he would take Spurs to a different level,” he said. “He’s an amazing player.”
“Spurs have a great front three but they cannot play every week. Jurgen Klopp has found that out with his front three. He has five players in rotation for those positions.
“As well as Spurs’ front three are doing at the moment they cannot play every game. It is a squad game now more than ever.”
Martinez is a world class striker that would add some more goals to this Spurs attack, but how would he fit into the starting squad if Harry Kane does not leave the club?
You cant drop a world class striker like Kane into midfield, and Martinez will not be happy on the bench.
It would be an interesting problem for Antonio Conte
